British Faction Suggestions

Post by Darkpowder »

With the announcement of the Landrovers to be seen soon on 0.5 i thought i would suggest this addition to the loadout.

Landrover mounted automatic grenade launcher

(thanks for the info thunder)

Currently being deployed to Afghanistan for the Royal Marines, i'm sure the Green Beret faction in PR would appreciate some firepower increase too.

3-5 in a burst of fire anyone... :)

I would like to see the Harrier jet >_< so they will have their own aircraft. It could be the most powerful jet besides the F15/F18.

Its coming, the WIP has been in the "media" section for months now.

Anyway, as cool as automatic grenade launchers would be, they have the potential to be abused horribly. And I really think we need to give the other factions a chance to catch up before we make the British even more imba.

All that said, I'd still love to see a land rover with a GMG on at some point...

Yeah thats the kinda thing that doesnt really belong. Its cool, but giving GB/USMC an automatic grenade launcher is just too IMBA

China could use this mounted on some vehicle: http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl25-e.htm

MEC could use this mounted on some vehicle:http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl22-e.htm or since the trend for MEC tend to be that they use EU weapons, they could use this: http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl21-e.htm

All theoretically possible to mount on vehicles, even if they don't in real life go on them.

If we're asking for harriers, im asking for an Apachie Gunship.

its would be EASY to inplement because you dont need to model it. As alot of new features of .4 are taken from BATTLEFIELD2: SPECIAL FORCES, im sure you could use the model used in that game too.

Im not sure how hard it is to modify the ammount of payload and damaged of the payload, but i wouldnt think it too long. Also, speed and manouvering could be changed. The Speed of that was a bit....Poo compaired to that of the Cobra, Havok and Chinese thingy. The Hind, used in SF was equally too slow, cumbersome and the laughing stof of the air.

And I want a Squadron of US Army AH-64Ds with inter-squadron targeted Hellfires :)

The USMC doesnt use the AH64 Apache
(http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/sh ... hp?t=4487).
The British do I beleive and I think the nomenclature is somthing like WAH-64 or somthing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westland_WAH-64_Apache).

PS: After reading more of the posts on that forum it seems that the AH1Z is a better bird for the Marines anyway. More manuverable, faster, and ready for combat faster. Also the Longbow isn't meant for Close Air Support as much as deep strikes. The AH1Z is meant for Close Air Support so it lends itself to gameplay also.

That image is of the WIMIK (Weapons Mount Installation Kit).

The AGL(automatic grenade launcher) is a nasty piece of kit. It fires grenades at an insane rate. Its like a minimi with grenades. May be a bit too powerful for the game.

British Faction could also use Apache as their attack helicopter.

??? :)

QLZ-87 (first link you posted)

AGS-17/30, though I cannot find a photo at the moment, is used in both vehicle pintle and turret mounts, as well as helicopter pintle or pod mounts. The link you posted even says so. :)

The H&K GMG (the third link you posted) is the weapon shown on the Royal Marine WMIK in the first post. I haven't heard an "L" designation for it, yet. :)

But don't put it in with the USMC. That way people like me who love the Cobra still have that and people who love the Apache have that too. THat and it is all exactly realistic.

IIRC, they had it on BF2, the PS2 version, but they dumbed it down and restricted its range of motion so that it wouldn't be too uber

Indeed i do, and the green of a royal marine beret looks rather similar to the British Faction green beret i thought, hence the appropriate parallel here.

Well we have tow-missiles mounted on hummers, and with AGL's being a feature of most armies now, its a fair addition for all factions potentially.
