FPS issues with my new PC

Post by Markoxx »

Hi guys!

I really need som advice on how to fix my FPS problem ingame. In all the maps I get max 20. some times it drops to 10 or 7 which makes the game unplayable. here is some info on my PC. i have updated all the drivers and have 1920*1080 resolution. my graphic quality is set on medium. anti-aliasing 8x. is there anything I can do to have a higher FPS. my graphic card in NIVADA GeForce GTX 550 Ti and my operating system is WIndows 7 64-bit

How'd you fix it?

This guy would love to know :)

It seems like you have similar GPUs

Are you having problems in any other games?
Problems In any other Directx9 games?

download newest WHQL video card drivers.
download treexy's driverfusion and install and run.
in Driverfusion, uninstall your AMD graphics drivers.
REBOOT.
Install the newest WHQL video card drivers.

Try Razer Game Booster

Try Bitsum ProcessLasso Free 64 Bit version.
Set PRBF2.exe and PRLauncher.exe to Game Mode.

Resize your Page file to 8GB.

Download MSIKombustor and run the benchmarks for your GPU to make sure it's working proper.

Your GPU looks to be overheating...? EDIT: KillJoyFr noticed this, I had missed it.

Can you post your system specs from PRLauncher->Support button->'Copy to Clipboard' button.
Paste everything here.

Open your PC case, Can you hear/see your GPU fan spinning? Is it full of dust? Something seems wrong.

It's possible that Kombustor is misreporting, so try another monitoring program.

Try another program like Open Hardware Monitor - Core temp, fan speed and voltages in a free software gadget to measure temps and run another round of GPU stress tests. If your GPu goes up to 90C or above, you definitely have a problem

I oped my case and everything looks ok, the fans are workingok but not the GPU I think its not spinnig hard enough. I took care of all the dust and I guess the GPU is still getting overheated.

Before running PR

this is the test while running PR

Your GPU core is getting to 100 degrees celcius, at which point I believe it is self throttling, according to this:

Maximum GPU Temperature (in C)
100 C
GeForce GTX 550 Ti | Specifications | GeForce

Reviews put the load temp at around 55 degrees above ambient, which in Sweden should be ~75 degrees.

Here is a quick list of possible causes of this problem:
1. on-silicon thermometer on your GPU is broken
2. the thermal compound has dried out between your GPU and GPU heatsink/fan assembly , and is no longer conducting heat effectively.
3. The GPU's firmware is glitched and is not outputting the temp readings from the thermometer correctly.
4. Your case is not getting enough airflow through it to remove the heat that the GPU heatsink/fan is removing from the GPU chip, raising the entire case's ambient temps to ridiculous levels.
5. Any combination of any of the above.

Order of operations:
1. Try to update or reflash the current GPU firmware.
2. Add another fan to your case.
3. Find a screwdriver small enough to remove your GPU heatsink/fan, and buy new thermal compound and some rubbing alcohol. Search Google on how to replace thermal compound on GTX 550 TI.
OR
4. Skip step 3 and RMA the GPU if it's under warranty.

When you are cleaning dust on your video card you need to dissasemble the whole fan block,
cleaning the exterior and the fan rotor is not enough.
