Joining a squad

I have noticed that sometimes when I try to join a squad, I can't get in, I don't mean when the padlock is highlighted or there is 6 guys already in it. I have tried to join some when there is only 2 or 3 players and I can't join it,I was wondering if this might be a bug.

or have the guys in the squad, locked it (got a white padlock next to it instead of a gray unlocked padlock).

Various servers have their own rules on this sort of thing. normally on iGi we like to see 3 man minimum locked squads for friends to play together. Some servers are allowing 2 man locked sniper squads. But I don't think anywhere will allow one man locked squads for lonewolfs who want access to the special kits.

only time I think a 1man squad should be made, is if a sniper wants to work with the commander, to help spot out targets and go scouting on his own, to support the team by spotting out stuff, spotting for arty etc. When you are scouting like that, the last thing you want is a guy spawning on your head, then running at the enemy with full auto on his ak spraying away saying "look my squad leader is over here!"
