Post by Marvsarge1 »

Hello guys, a friend of mine is going to install battlefield 2 (origin) and project reality, i knew that you had to start up bf2, create an account and then join a multiplayer round to install pr correctly. Now, since the shutdown of gamespy autentication server i wonder what he should do to not ecounter error? Thank you in advance

Now you don't have to do those steps as far as I know, the default profile should be created by the 1.2 installer :)

And what archive are you trying to open? Or are you trying to run the installer from the archive? Anyway you have to extract it first before you run it. In case you have ISO image downloaded, you can burn it to disk and install it that way or mount the ISO to virtual drive and do run the install from there. Either way it should work.

That was not a requirement for instal to work, it was just a step to make sure you core game is running properly, and in some cases if you got corrupted profiles and had to delete them to create new ones. Obviously you cant do that anymore and you dont have to as Psyrus said.

It should be a 6.9GB file...

Let the torrent program finish downloading it to 100%

Actualy when I do do the download it says download complete. Could it be a broken link? It says its 34.3 KB. That's all. This is when I down load it from PR. It's a torrent. I can't even use Rar

You have the prbf2_1.2.0.0_full.iso.torrent file. That is just a instruciton file on how to use the torrent protocol to download the actual prbf2_1.2.0.0_full.iso file.

Download a bittorrent client such as qBittorrent, uTorrent, etc, and open your 34.3kb file inside the bittorrent client.

Ok I 'll try that. But aren't the bittorrent sites full of viruses and malware adware?

^ No. Read more about torrents. Of course you need to watch what you are downloading and from where. If you download pirated copies of software or movies or anything illegal there is a chance that it may contain malware. In this case you are downloading torrent which was made and shared by PR team itself and of course it is not containing any malware.

from the PR download page, you downloaded prbf2_1.2.0.0_full.iso.torrent file.
Boot up Bittorrent client.
click "Add new torrent"
navigate to the prbf2_1.2.0.0_full.iso.torrent file and select to open it.
there will be a dialogue box askign you where you want to save the prbf2_1.2.0.0_full.iso file, pick a directory.
keep Bittorrent client open and running until it downloads the entire 6.8GB prbf2_1.2.0.0_full.iso file.
You can close and restart bittorrent as often as you want, it will auto resume download when reopened.

Then follow the installation guide on the PR download page.
