Just a super quick and small patch today to fix some issues with the GameSpy shutdown.

PR:BF2 v1.2.1.0 Changelog (2014/07/27)

BINARIES:
  • Fixed game trying to connect to a now shutdown GameSpy service, which caused a 1 minute delay (black screen) on launch.
  • Fixed incompatibilities with other Battlefield 2 GameSpy replacements.

Oh great, yesterday I thought my game had crashed and so I kept closing it, like 3 times before I decided to wait a little and see that it was still actually working... For me it was a lot longer than one minute delay, more like 3 or 4.

I'm curious if this latest issue will be figured out. I have a thread in the support section regarding the "black screen" issue and no conclusion as of yet..


will this patch stop the "lost connection" issue? I can live with a minute of black screen getting in to the game but if this fixes the server crash issue I'm stoked.

it will be great to get through a round without crashing. I've noticed that "serious objectives" have been lost because (listening to the some of the team yesterday) no one can get serious if they know ultimately the server is going to crash so most were just fucking off waiting for the server to crash, and it did!


edit: it does fix the black screen, cool.

This update is causing my game to always CTD before I even see the main menu, also, the black screen for 1 minute has not stopped. (Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit)

After updating i get a black screen for a long time. After that black screen it loads the main menu and crashes the game. now me and my friends can't play Project reality anymore..

I too am now having CTD just before main menu appearing on v1.2.1.0.
I load PR via the Launcher, I then see about 3 minutes of black screen, then a flicker of the PR cursor and bam CTD.
Before latest game update, everything was fine, game loaded fine and ran smoothly.
I have changed nothing and have the same programs running iv always had.

Does it crash for you all when you play in windowed mode too?

I just tried playing the game in windowed mode, and it works! I think we have found a temporary fix for this particular problem. Thanks man!

Playing in Window Mode fixed the issue.
However still does not explain why pre v1.2.1.0 I could play fullscreen and never had any issues for months, and now post v1.2.1.0 I am forced to play in Window Mode?

Now that it has successfully run in windowed mode, can you try starting it in full screen mode and see if it's fixed?

Holy ****!!! I started it in fullscreen mode after running it in windowed mode and it's working!!! So now that it's working, what exactly caused this problem?

In first round after installing the patch I noticed that you can monitor the rough ammunition amount remaining in your current magazine in your rifle or HMG-emplacement (the two things I've seen it on) by holding Q in un-aimed mode.
Was this GREAT ability added in this patch, although not in the changelog, or have I just failed to see it for a long time?
