[Map] Pakistani mountain lake (2km) [WIP]

Post by B2P1 »

Location: Pakistan
Size: 2km
Factions : MEC vs. PLA (discussable)
Game Play Type : Heavy's + Light Air support

The underlying idea is having Team 2 (East) assault Team 1 (West) in a valley in the foothills in Pakistan, using heavy assets and light Air support (on both teams). Some mountains will be accessible for these heavy assets and others will need Infantry and air drops. Team 1 will have the upper hand in terrain and will have military fortifications.

Woodlands/Open Fields/Mountains without vegetation

Mountains will obviously not be as steep, Pine forests.

Valley will have wheat fields, mixed forests, open fields,...

Insanitypays was also working on a woodland camo for MEC forces, it'd be perfect for this kind of environment.

I'm having problems with Z-fighting on terrain thats close to sea-level. Are these issues I will need to fix or aren't they noticeable ingame? It also shows up as water on the minimap when in reality it isnt there.

Don't mind the textures, I'm having trouble adjusting it to what I have in mind in photoshop.

looks interesting, might be the new Kyongyni valley (or whatever it was called) looks like you'll be able to have nice dense forest with open goat areas with rocks etc.

Keep it up

Yea about that I'm still thinking about resizing it to 4km :s sorry about that. And the name is temporary as well :) .

Thanks, I'm trying to create a map that will make long range engagements for heavy units possible, yet still have plenty of cover for infantry to move around.

How do I increase the resolution in the editor again? I believe (not sure he wrote it actually) Rhino has a topic about it when I was fast reading the forums but I can't find it anymore.

Also is there a reference book I can download that shows all the PR statics?

Move the tweaker bar below the Ressource bar go to view and save the layout. And finally restart the editor.

There is no book for pr statics as far as I know.

if you are trying to find a static, you can search your pr_edit staticobjects directory using the normal windows search function looking for keywords or load a map that you know has the static and find it's name that way.

Also on every start up the editor spams this for five minutes:

Code: Select all

...
bundle not found:idle2
idle2 : Bundle not found
 trigger not found:idle
idle : trigger not found
 trigger not found:idle
idle : trigger not found
 bundle not found:zoom_changeFirerate
zoom_changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle1
idle1 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle2
idle2 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:changeFirerate
changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:zoom_changeFirerate
zoom_changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle1
idle1 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle2
idle2 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:changeFirerate
changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:zoom_changeFirerate
zoom_changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle1
idle1 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle2
idle2 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:changeFirerate
changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:zoom_changeFirerate
zoom_changeFirerate : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle1
idle1 : Bundle not found
 bundle not found:idle2
idle2 : Bundle not found
...
Any idea what might cause this?

no idea, but it's quite normal afaik, if it takes ages to start, then I recommend loading less in the editor.

E.g. you don't need vehicles, weapons or kits if you're just doing terrain and static work. This will decrease loading times significantly. Keep soldiers ticked so that you can us the soldier camera to ensure good static placement.

After going into soldier cam and then going back in normal cam, the mouse pointer in the editor doesn't show up. Anyway I can fix this without having to restart the editor? Also how do I change kit in soldier cam?

Oh and I'm also having problems with designing the ground textures. Whenever I try to edit them myself I get textures that look completely off and unrealistic.

If anyone has some textures stored that look closely to the pictures below, or someone that wants to help me make them. Just send me a PM. please :)

Overall the terrain is starting to take shape and some statics are layed out already.

Terrain looks pretty good to me.
But the hill on which the FOB sits looks pretty unnaturall to me.
