low settings not low enough

Post by epicbanana123 »

like the title says, the lowest possible settings are not low enough. the devs should put pr 0.981 graphics/sound back in for the lowest settings. in 0.981 i got a solid 30 fps on most maps 1366x768 (low) since 1.0 i average around 10 fps on lowest settings and 800x600 or whatever the lowest resolution is and it looks worse than 0.981 :-( so plz, devs for your next update make the game less intensive so i can acctually play it again

lenovo g850 laptop (pentium version) ($250 shitop)
pentium b980 @ 2.4ghz w/integrated graphics
4gb ram

i know someones gonna tell me to upgrade but i really cant and thats beyond the point anyways. 0.981 was playable, 1.0-1.2 is not.

I second this.

I wouldn't mind having the game look even worse than I already have it for a few more fps, i would actually love such a thing to happen to me. Just to be able to fly a heli without getting everyone killed for a lag spike would be magnificent.

Well, I have a suggestion on how to fix this in a more straightforward way.

@OP: Patrick does your laptop have that weird feature where if it's unplugged it doesn't perform to its fullest? Whenever I see you on the server you are night & day with your laptop's performance.

In all seriousness. The devs are not gonna downscale PR because a minority (and I'm sorry I have to say this, but it is true) can't afford a better system.

It's simple, your PC is inadequate and not only for PR, but for gaming. I know it is not what you want to hear (or well, read) but you have to face it, you played 0.981 on 30 FPS. Playing with that kind of FPS on a regular basis can be very frustrating and stressful, I've been there, and I don't recommend it to anyone.

It's very straight forward, you need a new system, now if you get it or not is up to you. The way I see it, if you want something really bad, you can get it. Not by magic of course, but by hard work. So, the best advise I got for you is: use your imagination, and find a way to earn the means to get a new rig.

Don't think this is the reason, If I'm not mistaken low settings in PR had more (gameplay) advantages than high settings.

Devs had to made a compromise between low-settings but high enough that players could exploit the game.

Dont question the wikipedia! Just because it reports different things on different languages does not make it unreliable source!

This is not going to be changed.

We disabled certain low settings, as those gave players significant advantages towards players playing on high settings. As low settings were more and more 'abused' by people having medium/high spec PCs and communities and clans complained about it, we saw us forced to take action.

Also note, that not all low settings are disabled.
Our team spend a great amount of effort and time finding a good compromise between graphical advantages and performance.
