Sniper Class Restriction

Note : Love the mod

Ok, I like the effort on controlling the sniper class (actually I hate it because I'm a sniper mainly and like to do so

) But can we have 1 sniper per squad maybe? And to prevent people making a squad just to snipe, have it be restricted until there is atleast 2 people in one squad? Just a idea.

I've always disliked snipers since back in teamfortress classic days and I personally think there shouldn't be more then one per entire team. I'd easily compromise my opinion if there was a sharpshooter rifleman class with a very limited zoom scope and only one per 6 man squad.

In v0.5 the sniper will need at least 2 players on the squad to be able to request it.

Snipers are lve / hate to me. I hate being sniped but I love it when I kill one and take his rifle and snipe people. But overall the kit limiting system is the GREATEST thing ever because snipers add so little to the game teamwise.
While some people are great snipers, the large majority are simply weak in the shooting dept and use the scope to compensate while adding very little to the team effort.

I hate snipers, this class destroy the game. I always hate it, I just like the sniper class when Im playing with this.

I like snipers, but I hate it when some idiot gets his kit and keeps it the whole game. If a sniper is lone wolfing, they should be getting at least 20 kills per game. No question. If they're supporting a squad, good on 'em.

I wish there were more DMRs available, but less sniper rifles. The DM can be very beneficial to a squad, but because it's so limited everybody treats it like a sniper rifle.

I especially wish EJOD had a DMR, and not a sniper rifle. There's a couple others, too. I think the best would be if they were seperate classes.

officers should get the DMR - it suits their role perfectly

What i dont like to see is about 4 locked, 1 man squads with nothing but snipers.
OR, a ful lsized squad with all the snipers. This means that either people dont care about team play or they are jus thogging the snipers, 24/7.

Snipers arent ALWAYS assigned to take out a target, 99% of the time they are doing reconnaissance.
You also have to remember he might of been asked to go take out specific targets! by the CO or SL...so if you see a Sniper by himself dont ALWAYS think straight away hes a wanker bla bla bla.

Haha, don't worry AusSniper, whenever I see you with your two man sniper teams, I know all's well.

What I'm not liking though is the wanker with only a 2 or 3 to 1 K/D ratio even though he's had the damn sniper kit the whole game. The ones who treat it like a DMR. Or even worse, the ones who take the DMR into the hills and just sit on their fat *** waiting for targets, when I could be pwning the streets and rooftops with it. Once on Mutrah, we were playing a 6 vs. 6, and somebody kept camping the wastelands with the DMR. Meanwhile we were getting clipped from the rooftops every time we tried to venture into the city. He wouldn't respond to text.

If the sniper's getting orders and being a team player, that's one thing. But if they're just trying to learn the sniper kit, it's better done on SP.

Reason why I ask is because, I'm the type of sniper in this mod (note in bf2 I'm a lone wolf about 75% of the time) where i do reconnaissances and cover at the same time.
I guess we all have had different experiences with snipers, I know I piss people off but eh its funny. But like i said it was a thought, and I like the 2 man to a squad to request, that will be a good feature.

There are some maps on which sniping (even as a lone wolf) can be deadly.

I know that when im commander, on bigger maps like jabal, qwai, muttrah, having a dedicated squad of 1 or 2 snipers that actually listen to you is an amazing tool. That is, if they obey you

There have been several situations that come to mind right now. a smart squad of 2 snipers, or a sniper/spec ops can do a beautiful job with recon, defense, and cover fire. To be able to tell a dedicated sniper team to go up to this hill or this building and cover squad 3, or to pull into the enemys lines and snipe on enemy reinfocrements while a squad is covering a flag, is a beautiful beautiful thing.

Alot of people are against snipers due to their stereotype, but if a smart guy gets his hands on his rifle, its a good thing.

Yeah, I play as sniper a bit myself. And I hate it when some n00b gets a sniper kit and goes lonewolfing with it, too. But make no mistake, snipers can in fact be useful to a team. It's not about raking up kills the vanilla way, it's about spotting enemies from a safe distance, and letting your team know the situation. If a squad is in the middle of a firefight, it's really useful if somebody lets them know about the enemy squad that is about to attack them from behind. That the sniper can do. He can even take out some of the members of that enemy squad if he gets a clear shot. And now, with the introduction of officer kits, he will have a definitive role in hunting down commanders and SLs.

I love to play as a sniper, depends on the map though. With the sniper rifle it's pretty easy to get like a k/d ratio of 10, if you find a nice spot. And not to mention the advantage I can give my team by spotting enemy units (vehicles being most important) and providin long range cover fire. I don't think the other guys notice it often, but as a sniper I sure do think that my friends will have an easier time advancing if I'm keeping the enemies heads down (and killing those who don't keep their heads down, if I manage to hit something)

The less snipers the better IMO. 1 or 2 per side max. Anything else is just going to mean les team work and more lone wolves.

snipers are great in every game i have seen them in - especially in TFC as playing spy's pretending to be one, standing next to them at the windows in the enemy base, and then knifing them was great fun.

But back on topic.. however, if the squad you are in charge of has too many snipers for the duty you are assigned, ask people to change kits.

Oh yeah and aus sniper, and sandy (your spotter) msg me sometime, i have some sniper tactics for you to try out.

I love sniping on hills of hamyong as british.. hehe.. I usually go 25 or 30-0 popping any chinese heads that pop up over the hill.

Great fun, and usually good for my team as well because the enemy knows they can't come into the open without catching one in the face.

Unfortunately, the other day I got TKed after going 29-0 british... on chinese side, some retard kept TKing me for my sniper rifle.

Ruined my fun.

Lately that's been happening too often unfortunately. I like sniping when I can't find a teamwork oriented VOIP squad - then I'll try my hands into getting the scoped rifles. But there are a bunch of retards out there right now who'd put a round in your head just to steal your sniper rifle only for them to get knifed before getting their first kill - OR camping out at the wrong flag like an idiot.
