I'll start by begging forgiveness if this has been answered elsewhere, but my searches give me so many messages that I could/have spent quite some time pawing through them for an answer to no avail.
Everything works in PR until I attempt to join a server. I receive no errors, just the connecting screen forever. I can request & receive server info though. This problem occurs with any/all servers. I have only played one online game a few times (7 Days To Die) set up on private servers, except for games like Elite Dangerous which I know are connecting with servers on their own. Regarding this information, one can infer that I'm new to all of this. I have no idea how, or if I need to set up any type of port forwarding & such on my router (TP-Link). I don't even know if this is what is causing my problem.
System/Game particulars:
Win 7 install with Steam copy of BF2
PR installed with full iso version which picked the Steam folder to install to.
All virus programs (Comodo, Malwarebytes exited.)
BF2 runs when started through Steam.
The PB installation hangs with an error when the PR install runs, so I cancel the installation of PB & the install of PR continues & completes. but I have installed PB on it's own. I'm not sure, but I assume that PB would not affect actual connection, but would kick me after connecting to a server. Maybe I am making an incorrect assumption? Since I've never even gotten that far, I don't know what will occur after connecting with a server concerning PB.
As an aside watching Bluedrake42 play PR on UTube has been the impetus to me attempting to play. My kudos to him for introducing me to this game along with many others. I thank you for any time spent offering me assistance.

Re: Cannot connect to server
Hiya welcome to PR,
we have only a few scenarios here, so let's work through them:
1. your antivirus and/or firewall is blocking PRLauncher.exe and/or PRBF2.exe
2. your ports indeed need to be opened.
3. something else .
-----------------------
Starting with scenario 1:
Obviously if you have your Steam install directory set to a custom location you'll adjust accordingly.
In your antivirus and firewall, set an exception , or set a whitelist for those executable files.
-------------------------------------
Scenario 2:
A bit trickier as you said you aren't well versed in this , but still not that hard,
We can try an automated way to fix this:
Start with those two troubleshooting options, let's see if we get lucky and find the problem easily.

(This worked for me and i don't know if it will work for others)
1. Download 'Portforward Setup Static IP Adress' (completely free)
2. Install it......
3. When you run it, at the bottom there should be a button that says 'Make it Dynamic' click that button and it will make your IP address dynamic.
4. Run the PR launcher and you should get an update.
It should be FIXED!
I'm sorry if it doesn't work for anyone else.

Re: Cannot connect to server
Thanks for the reply. The link was dead but a quick search on the title pulled it up. My Av's are/were all off, but I will except the exe's anyways, too easy not to, I know how to do that. I'll give an update when I can fool around with things, (fool being a key word there.) so many tasks, so little time! Thank you again.
