Re install OS or refresh in win 8.1
Hi, Iv'e read the posts regarding the cd key hashing and TS steps to fix it in regedit, but I looked up in the internet on how to re install Win 8.1 and there's this option to only do a "refresh". Does this helps just the same as re installing windows from scratch regarding the cd key issues? If that's the case let me know, I got a CD key that is already in use and cant fokn play, ill buy a copy of BF2 online in amazon to download it directly form there, just let me know if I also need to go buy a win 8 installation disk or if only the refresh helps.

Re: Re install OS or refresh in win 8.1
Apparently he used a blacklisted key to play on PR servers, and now he cant enter any server to play if I am right? And he wants to buy BF2 and install it, and is worried if that will work or he needs to do a reinstall of the system or would "refresh" work...
I am not sure how does this key hashing work so I cant really tell. Hash might be a combo of your NIC MAC address and key you used, so I am not sure what exactly would work here.
If this is your only concern, I would go and buy BF2, remove all traces of the old installation, do a cleanup, REBOOT, and then install BF2 freshly from newly acquired source, while using your new legit key. This should work.
I dont have intention to teach you how to use pirated keys, neither anyone would want to help you here about it.

Yep, I dont really care for the pirate stuff, it's a retail cd key from a friend that no longer plays but he shared it so yeah, 1st time I find out about all this cd key stuff due that I never had trouble regarding this stuff, but I'll just go and reboot the pc, if that foesnt work then I'll need to get a new one I guess, thxMaSSive wrote:Apparently he used a blacklisted key to play on PR servers, and now he cant enter any server to play if I am right? Well if they hadn't changed the system, you might want to try and reinstall OS or o a refresh. Devs days "key is tied to your machine", and I'm not quite sure what that means, and I hope its not the NIC MAC. If it is, then changing the NIC and using legit key would work, but I am just not sure. Try a legit key first as I said above, if it wont work, you need to try and reinstall or refresh ( do a refresh first and if it wont work again do a reinstall ).
If none of the above works, then try and change NIC, and if that as last solution wont work, you're out of luck. Change of PC completely would be required.
If you used a legit key at the first place this wouldn't happen. Sorry but that's the way it is.
