Trees
I haven't seen it suggested, so what if you could make trees climbable (sp?) It would come in handy in maps like Mao and Ghost Train. I'm no coder but two possible ways to do it would be 1. To model a "vehicle" type tree where you go up to a tree and press e and you're in the branches, it'd just be a vehicle that doesn't move, kind of like those TOW missles, or 2. Make a ladder and some trees have wooden boards that you can climb up on. What do you think?

the main problem about this is lag. you would also have to place each tree by hand i would have thought aswell. which on OGT, would take me a year...
but anouther big problem is that after they are destoryed, there is still a shaddow on the terrain of where they use to be...
the biggest problem with this thou is lag. just think how much stress the trees put on the server when you have a full 64 players running around steel thunder. with them being destructible aswell, would be hell for the server hehe.

Can you fire while midway up your grappling hook?
As for hills of hamyong, I wouldn't know. I never play that lag-fest. It's much worse than even al Basrah for me.

Na mate, main reason that Snipers are taught not to sit in trees because say for instance when your looking through your scope a leaf could move and screw up your shot.Leo wrote:Lol, ok, too bad, would've been cool for the snipers, and that damn ghilly (sp?) suit would be of some use.
Besides your gonna look like a blob that stands out from the rest of the tree.

I would like to see a portable ladder for snipers
. They could have it in their backs over their ghilly camouflage. This would be awesome. Then you could "fold it" or hold G and it goes back in your back and away you snipe!.

Also, nice going with the secret tunnle Nikov, top notch. Same with all the bunkers and that.

I'm not a fan of large areas of bamboo forest on ghost train. Gets a bit too crazy at times. I'd go for a forest with more clearings and some watch towers/ bunkers. There's a bunker on some maps that you have to crawl into, they would be sweet on ghost train. So yeah, clearings and bunkers FTW. That could satisfy your sniping tree fetish possibly.

Lots of inexperienced vietnamese snipers in vietnam used trees as vantage points. However, they knew they were sitting ducks (which a sniper wants to avoid) and knew they were likly to be killed. Snipers are trained to only use areas where they have at least 2 points to fall back too, this is because they need several possible routes of escape if discovered. So basicly, as you were hinting at, trees and snipers arent a good combo.Aus Sniper01 wrote:Na mate, main reason that Snipers are taught not to sit in trees because say for instance when your looking through your scope a leaf could move and screw up your shot.
