New Maps are awesome

Post by Tommygun »

Hello all. Can I implore that you all goto
Announcement - PRTA MAP TEST PACK Session 3/4 -23rd/24th/30th/31st of May | PRTA - Project Reality Teamwork Alliance
and download the 700MB map pack. The maps are great, well thought out, lush and most of all ....different. I was saddened at the lack of people playing them this weekend (Although the server was full for a time on Saturday)

IMHO I think the maps are good enough to include in any updates. I was particularly impressed with Assault on Grozny, very like a Stallingrad from BF1942. All sorts of terrain and even new prefags, never before seen. Operation Sapphire was great too with only one flag (Bleed if you dont have it) in the middle of an atoll surrounded by other small islands.

Comon people, make an effort (at least in PR) and get the maps. Make the remaining tests on the 30th and 31st of May pump.

I think if they were in the main cycle people would get them if they were suddenly dropped after Muttrah as Grozny started loading.

Anyway, a great job on the maps. Thanks to those who made them and put them up on the server.

Yeah really sad to see 400 players online but only ~20 playing the mappack.. I hope it will be better next weekend which will be the last one. Please provide feedback on the maps and the event itself if you think anything can be improved:
Testing - Feedback Mappack test session | PRTA - Project Reality Teamwork Alliance
Alternatively you can provide feedback in the individual map threads:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f354-community-maps

Thanks to everyone who joined and especially those who give feedback.

ps. there is no bleed on sapphire anymore, only on skirmish but it will be fixed.

I think you were talking about Operation dragon orchard with the King of the Hill layout :D

also, the pack is 700mb, not 7000mb, big difference

The problem with the map packs is that they arnr't downloaded through the PR launcher, thats why a lot of people don't play on those maps..
Its SO evil, it may actually encourage EA to support Modding again - Pantera

Grumpy fix your signature or it will be removed... We have said it enough. Follow the size regulations...

On topic, I know how hard it can be to have enough people testing. But trust me every person counts ;) even those 20! And threw all the test I'm sure more then 100 people have tested most maps in the pack by now. But yeah most of those will never post feedback. Get used to that :)

Just keep working and listening to everyone who has something to say and that will provide you as close as you can get to a great map! Some maps in the pack are well on their way into the game. But as long as we don't see many updates on these forums we can't judge it ourselves as PR-team members. We need screenshots, minimaps, statistics to provide feedback on. We can't do much with GPO layouts until the actual visual map is finished first. (not pointing fingers, in general for all mappers of the mappack)

Alot more then 100, every night we have had full server almost instantly, but yesterday it never filled up for some reason  :(

From what I've heard from some players, methinks that it has a lot to do with people thinking they have to join PRTA's TS for one thing, then having to download a password-protected file I believe is deterring another segment.

Don't know for sure, but can someone go to the download link on PRTeamwork.com and download the map pack even if they don't have an account on PRTeamwork? Having to create an account here as well could possibly be deterring certain people.

A lot of people don't like having to create accounts on websites any more than they have to.

Direct download link, passwords and all information about maps is literally one click away from PRTA main page.
