Remove Out of Bounds Voiceover

Post by PricelineNegotiator »

Hello,

Something that has been annoying me since BF1942 is the voiceovers that say something to the effect of "Get back to the combat area or you will be shot!" when you go out of bounds. Since Project Reality is very limited in its map size, a jet or helicopter pilot goes out of bounds frequently. At this time, they may be communicating with their own or another squad leader when a voice screeches about leaving the combat area. This usually results in valuable information being lost or needing to be relayed again. Combine squad chat, jet engine noise, and the out of bounds guy, and it can be a real dose for a headache.

The message that is on the screen does enough to warn you that you have left the combat area. I would like to see if one of these things are possible:

1) Remove the voice from playing altogether
2) If it is hardcoded, is there a way to substitute the recording of the voice with a blank audio clip?
3) Possible to remove it for air assets only? infantry and armor still need it as their timers are much lower

I've been meaning to post this for years, and I'm sure a lot of people feel the same way. Let me know what you think!

1) Yes can be done I think
2) Can be replaced with a blank recording
3) Not really sure

The problem is that this voice is also used when entering enemy main base and zones you cant stay around in general. Could look into doing some codeing that disables it for jets tho, will look at that.

Nice small suggestion. I'm at work, so can't test this - but isn't there and option to reduce voiceover volume in the audio settings, below effects and music?

Cheers, Murkey.

There is. The problem is that this voiceover is very useful for jets, since it tells you when your bombs/missiles are locked to a laze.

The HUD Message would still pop up if we replaced it with a blank sound file.

But TBH I find the HUD Message in your face more annoying than the sound, since that doesn't go away :p

Is this something I could take a crack at? Just wondering about the possibility of this being worked on by the dev team, or if I should dive in.

Can the hud message be changed to just a space?

Seems like a good solution to me. Maybe the HUD message can be shortened so it takes up less space as well?
