So what do servers have against All chat?

Post by NyteMyre »

I've been playing since 0.5 (see my awesome signature medal) but i have never understood this rule against all chat.

People who claim it's distracting, but i have never found it distracting in anyway.

Some do, some don't.

I for one don't as I've learned to look past it, but I can see their argument for those that are bothered by it. It can break immersion for some people I guess.

If the four lines of text could be move up to the top left just under server messages, that would be the best compromise I think.

I don't know; it's a lot less distracting than BIG *** GREEN LETTERS from admin messages telling people to stop using allchat.

Some people just have trouble focusing with the chat scrolling by, and arguments can distract players from their duties.

It's just one of those rules admins aren't ever interested in discussing, their way or no way.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Fast message feed = admins have less time to read and find TK messages, !r reports and other stuff.

All servers tolerate all-chat to an extent, but when people start discussing all kinds of shit, they usually make people stop.

Lots of people use chat to communicate, either with other squads or other players in a relevant context. Those messages are lost when you see a bunch of nonsense flying up the screen.

Additionally, people start reading the nonsense and then get shot in the head because they weren't watching their sectors.

It also starts needless drama and encourages the trolls to do their thing.

Basically, there is really nothing positive that comes from it.

Good Evening,

The all chat thing is what it is. If you really have been playing since .5, you haven't been really keen on learning why some don't allow it and some do. The key to this is to learn your admins and to not carry on and carry on and carry on.... not that I'm carrying on here, but you get the point. Players get butthurt from time to time, myself included, and want to raise the roof about it. Others like to brag, but as a wise man once said, he who has to brag has nothing to brag about.

Be observant of your admins as in who they are. Join their squads get to know them. I'll be the first to say that I'm anti-admin but I'm the first to say that they are a necessary evil. Here's the thing, most admins just want to play and have fun. They are like the parents at a party with their kids, the kids act up and the parents start reacting.

Again, just learn the server as well as the admins and don't worry about the all chat.
