I will be honest with you. Night maps were not so great due the fact some players found ways to exploit it (they could see better than the others, giving them advantage), which was obviously a downside.
However, I've noticed DEVs also found a way to bring night maps again, simply making the map during a full moon. It still dark, however you can see buildings, roads and silhouettes. This change may be a huge step in the right direction, because now people don't have the need to expoilt dark maps since they can see what theyre shooting at.
Here is the example

PR v1.3 - The syrian map... Sbortoeh without-skirt... I dunno. INS layout, night

Before, you couldn't see a thing. Now, it still night, but due the full moon, everybody can see where they're going.
I hope they implement night layout in some epic maps like kashan or fallujah

Dovre and Nuijamma night layer are awesome to play on.
The night adds a cool atmosphere and makes me feel stealthy

Nightmaps are okay now that Russians don't glow in the dark...etc.
There will always be noobs who lack self-respect who turn up contrast on monitor...etc.
I think there should be a somewhat subtle noise effect to anything not using FLIR; it should decrease night time visibility(realistic) for naked eye.
