Post by Desertfox »

Why not a "Cover me!" or a "Clear!"?

There is "Bail Out!!!" I just got into the game and got into a littlebird, the guy dropped me and 2 other blue guys off and we had to clear the area and I needed a clear and cover me command :(

Well there are such voice overs already made by DICE, I wonder why they never were used.

EDIT: DOH! There was no "cover me" file, but there is a "infantry, gather around me" file for the SL.

I think that's pilot specific and bound to the E button. Whenever I press it as pilot the occupants tend to follow.

That would be usefull though
But as someone said before, teamworking squads needing this command use VoIP anyway.

Yep, the only time I can see the comma rose coming in handy is when you have a non-squadie pilot. They never seem to see when you type.

I still think a "clear!" command would be intensely useful. Not everyone hears VOIP for whatever reason, and sometimes there's a blue guy near you. When you both see a hostile go somewhere, and you check it out and the threat's neutralized, it's useful to be able to tell him that it's all clear so he doesn't spend more time looking. All I know is that there's been a whole lot of times when I wish I had this comm.

Well, they could steal the medic's "clear" and put it on the commo rose somewhere... don't think there's a cover me command anywhere though.

I want the vehicle commands and noises to be heard by everyone in a vehicle. Such as "I've got a lock" and "SABOT UP!"

I'd like to see a "CEASE FIRE!" Command. I don't know how many times the blackhawk gunners liked to take pot shots at me while I was on a roof top. NEG NEG NEG NEG didn't seem to matter.

Oh man, I was just in a game tonight (OGT on 22MEU), and I was thinking "as soon as I stop playing, I'm going to post a suggestion for a cease fire command in desert fox's thread".

We seriously need that. People don't pay attention to the text. And it really sucks when you keep hitting PG DOWN, but they don't stop, and then you die, and then your blocked for 30 seconds and can't request a medic! It's ridiculous.

Tonight, I had snuck around the mountain to flank the Chinese on OGT. I found and killed a whole squad including one sniper up on the mountain. At this point I was 8 and 0. I took his sniper rifle and got maybe 5 more guys, allowing my team to advance across the bridge and cap the flag below. But soon I hear some fire really close to me, and realize an enemy has flanked and taken out all the guys near me that had assault rifles. So I carefully crawl further up the mountain, see him, and headshot him. My teammates must have told their squadmates about this guy on the mountain, because all of a sudden I'm having friendly GL rounds and nades tossed at me like Mars' tennis ball launcher. I keep saying "No Sir!""No Sir!", but to no avail. Finally I was dead, ruining an amazing streak.

Do you know how much that pissed me off?

Now, I realize that not everybody wants to hear "cease fire!" all across the map. But not everybody wants to hear "hey thanks" or "damn, sorry" either. If it makes everybody on the map that is currently firing pause for a second to consider, "hmmm, could this be a friendly target?" would that be so bad?

I agree with the "clear", "cover me/covering fire/take cover", and "cease fire" suggestions. Not everybody uses voip, would be helpful and cool.

I'd say "cease fire" is most important. After that, "clear".

If there's limited commo rose space, I'd say get rid of "need backup" in favor of "cease fire". "Nedd backup" is a great idea, but I never see it used with any actual results. When you hear it in a big game and bring up the map to see who's flashing, there's always several people.

There is a wonderful invention called the human voice v.1.0 which can emulate any communication need via a microphone.
Miraculous i tell you

VOIP does a great job imo for commands such as "Clear" "cover me" "coming through" "reloading" (while giving suppressive fire).

And the "spotted" was next to useless.

I like the commo rose much more.
