Okinawa

Post by alienBoris »

Will I still be able to play this while I'm stationed over in Okinawa? How does online multiplayer games work overseas? Will I be stuck having to play with just the Japanese or can I play with folks back home?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to, but it would be laggy as hell.

Should be fine playing anywhere with an internet connection. West coast US servers would probably be your best bet for english speakers. You can play anywhere, it will just have high ping.

Could always try the Aussie server but not sure how solid of an internet speed you have there.

West coast servers should be fine I guess. I'm from Germany and I've been on PRTA LA and it was playable.

Assuming you're USMC or USAF, don't just get the first barracks internet service you find, ask around, perhaps even fellow gamers for advice on which service provider you should get there.

Probably depends where you are going. I just spent a few months in Camp Hansen and the internet there sucks. I couldn't really do too much online. If you are going to Kadena it will probably be a good connection because Airforce.

I was stationed in Korea for a year and the connection to the PRTA LA server was about 120 ping. It was very playable.

I've been playing from Japan for the past few years and PRTA LA has very playable ping (usually under 200 for me, but that's with a fast internet connection). HOG, CIA, and BIG D's aren't bad either. The European ones can be frustrating since 300-400 ping really hurts you in CQB.

The Japanese server is not always full and you need to have someone from their community give you the password. And I imagine most of them don't speak English.
