Engineer Nerfed too much?

I like the engineer kit (brit or russian) but I've had a number of experiences now that irritate the bejeezus out of me.
Ive had tanks go over my mines and drive off smoking a bit. I think that is wrong. As an engineer you get 1 mine (at a time) on a 2-4km map if I place it well enough and a tank drives over it (which is like finding a needle in a haystack) I think it should die (they do at times but not as often as I'd expect).
On other occasions Ive put a Large C4 on the side of an Apc only to have that drive off smoking a bit. Again, I think one should be rewarded with a taking the vehicle out.
As an added whine (coz Ive not had my coffee yet) I still think UK and Mec kits should have remote detonators...insurgents get em and even in Vietnam you get em. Ambushes are cool and its still a pretty shit kit, often no sights, no binocs and no grenades even. In essence, bigger bang and more bangs is what Im wanting.

If a tank doesnt get killed by a mine then its buggy hit registration. E.g when it goes over it fullspeed. A mine was always supposed to one-hit kill any vehicle and nothing was nerfed there.

You always needed 1x big C4 and 1x small C4 to kill an APC. Usually this is enough for a tank too. And once you sneak up to a vehicle you should have enough time to deploy both C4 charges and then gtfo before they explode.

Remote detonators were removed for the reason you stated: to prevent blufor ambushes, which are unrealistic and shouldnt be a common tactic for a conventional army. Even though I agree that it was a shit load of fun to work the remote C4 and wouldnt mind having it back, but I understand the intention behind the change.

Engineers should get 2x landmines, they are 6-10 kg each but engineers gotta be strong. Pretty sure conventional armies give their pioneers two landmines. Less C4 more landmines. Could be also interesting to give ALT-engineer (pioneer) this setup:

3x small C4
1x Claymore
1x landmine

Nah, it is realistic. That's how, for instead, AP mines are supposed to be used. Making e.g claymores work as booby traps instead of remotely using it is against Ottawa's treaty (.. or for those countries which have acknowledged it lol, USA and Russia excluded)

Conventional armies aren't supposed to build booby traps but guess what happens when the Big Brother isn't watching. Who has the time to watch if someone walks on the path and the detonate the claymore. You just make it work as a booby trap and leave the place.

Thanks for the feedback. A big and small c4 is unreasonable I think. 1 C4 should at least track a vehicle so it needs repairs. Maybe if the beep was removed it may make it possible 1 time in 100.... I know I can hear the beep loudly and Im pretty sure they can in the tank. Is it possible to make the mine and c4 bang bigger?
I know I blew up a tank with 1*c4 on a desert map. I snuck up and it moved before I could deploy it so it landed on the ground. The tank came back to try kill us, and was close enough to blow in the delayed explosion...maybe it was a bit damaged but I think not.

Mmmm re Jacksonez query, was the mine and c4 bug fixed? Ive not tried, where you can double load?

The double-landmine and cooking C4 was fixed in 1.3 :-P

E: also some armies have "smart" landmines which WILL penetrate any armor floor, not the track but floor. Kills every crew inside with copper spray. Regular landmines shouldn't destroy a MBT, just track it. Not sure if that can be done but would be nice.

Offtopic but I don't think it would deserve a thread. Would it be possible to have the engineer kit to build all FOB assets twice as fast with the repair kit as a shovel to make it more relevant for building? Right now it only repairs barbed wire that fast.
