try this

GO to Mydocuments/ and rename Mydocuments/Projectreality to Mydocuments/ProjectrealityOLD
Start PRBF2.exe in Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2
When it says you must use the Luancher to play the game, shutdown PRBF2.exe
Start PRLauncher.exe and click Options, then check your video settings. Click Apply.
then start PR by pressing PLAY in the main PRLauncher menu,
make sure you have latest windows updates too

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately all of this didn't work, and my windows is updated.
I did figure it out myself, I started the launcher and let my PC handle the problem,
because it turned out to be a compatibility problem. It works now!

Ok, so now I reach the launcher. But when I start PLAY I get the following error:

Error 1324: Display error bla bla.
I have to change it in the Options tab.
I save the settings after I changed the Display Mode and tried again.
Didn't work.
I go to settings again and see that my options are reset. They didn't save.

Help please?

I had problem when I installed PR on fresh Win10. I could open luncher, but when it came to opening game it was black screen and after few seconds it closed with message "Closing, cleaning up resources." What I did to repair was downloading Directx and install it(Just type in google Directx, there should be Microsoft domain first.). Try doing it.

Re: Help

just because it can run bf3 doesn't mean it can run bf2 as well, bf2 is a lot older

i believe your problem is your refresh rate... its not showing up in your specs.. do you have the latest drivers for your APU?
what is your refresh rate? to play PR, it needs to be 60Hz.

I tried to change the refresh rate before, but I didn't succeed. I simply don't know how to do it, and the guide you gave me doesn't work for me since I do not have Nvidia.
Can someone help?

Under My Documents/Project Reality make sure that folder is not set to "read-only". If your settings are not saving that might be the problem. Try changing the video settings than saving them again to see if they stay to what you changed them too

Hi, thanks for you reply.

I turned off Read-Only, and started up the launcher, and changed the video settings.
It still didn't change, when I looked back it just turned off making me unable to play it.

Went back to the ProjectReality map to check if the Read-Only option was still turned off.
Turned out it was still enabled! The ''Read-Only'' cannot be disabled? Someone, help!

Now when I try to run the launcher, it shows the old error again after removing the ProjectReality map from my Documents, and running the compability check doesn't work anymore, and now I'm pretty done.

Looks like my pc can't handle the oldness of this game, or whatever causes it. Looked like a proper game, but I think it won't become playable on my machine.

If you have any other idea's, let me know and I'll give it a try. Right now, the end is everything except near.

It's certainly something in your systems video settings I can't help never having had an on die AMD before.

The fact your support had no display device or settings showing is unusual.

marty, what is your refresh rate? if its not 60Hz, then you won't be able to run PR. the link i provided also gives instructions for non nvidia users. do some googling about the topic and you might find some more resources

to avoid confirmation bias...

you can try running prbf2.exe located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Reality\Project Reality BF2

see what error you get

I checked my laptop settings and I saw that I already have 60Hz.

Also, when I start up prbf2.exe it says that I need to start the game through the launcher.

Re: Help

Post by DC_K »

okay, getting prbf2.exe to work is great! the launcher should be able to run..

make sure you aren't running any compatibility mode and your AV has whitelisted prbf2.exe prmumble.exe and prlauncher.exe

i'm assuming this error comes up with you hit play..? since you have the launcher specs.. im assuming you can at least start it.

do you have an account made? if so:
go to your documents/project reality/profiles/0001

verify you have all these files, if not, download them
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a0qm9ybeg3kl ... mszAa?dl=0

if you DON'T have profiles.con, make sure you open that and update it with your information.

with video.con, open that and ONLY CHANGE RESOLUTION, following the format provided. set that to read only for the time being before launching the prlauncher

try launcher and play, what happens

Finally, that worked! No more stupid video stuff error.
Now let's move on to the next error.. :(

I now get Error 1322, and I guess it's familiar to you.
I checked it and it's not read-only, I have currently no antivirus and I tried to run it as admin, which didn't work.
Maybe I'm missing some files, since I didn't have ANY of the files you sent me from Dropbox?

Re: Help

Post by DC_K »

error 1322.. a lot of people having that recently.. not sure why

so if you do have a profile made up already, then yes, follow the last portion of the last post and download all the files you don't have, making sure you edit the profiles.con with your name instead of 'dc-k'

i don't know if its a client side error, but it might be some sort of corruption or verification error in the process of connecting to the main server. i think a few were able to resolve it, but if you check the support forums, some folks still have that issue.. i'm not really sure what's going on.

if that doesn't work, i suppose I can try to make you a new account and see if that works for you.. private message me a potential username and PW (one that you never ever used for any accounts, ever) and maybe we can test to see if it will work.. other than that, I really have no idea what is causing this
