BF2Editor <file descirption> issue

Post by RarWinZip »

I'am keep having this errors every time i'am trying to load a map.

I've installed and reinstalled Editor following Rhino's tutorial, the only thing I can't make right way is to find "readme" stuff...

https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f189...g-modding.html

NOTE: in addition to this to get the most upto date object spawner templates, you should copy the "bf2editor" folder out of "\project reality\mods\pr\readme\" and paste it into your Battlefield 2 folder, overwriting the folder with the new one. Do this after you have exacted the above "PR_EDIT.rar" otherwise you will have the old object spawner templates.

There's no such thing like "BF2Editor" in this folder. I've got "assets" folder instead and some executables there.

Seeking for help.

It's freaking annoying. I'am trying to load a map, and then "heightmap not found" pops up, and then <file description> goes and BF2E crashes. But Heightmaps are there, I've unpacked them, wtf?

to load an existing map from the game you first need to extract all the files out of the .zips otherwise there is nothing the BF2 Editor can load :p
It is also worth noting that many of the files needed for the editor to fully edit a map are missing from the public files so you won't have things like the editor's map terrain textures etc so changing the terrain textures of a map isn't straight forward without them.

And here are the files your looking for, for some reason they where not included in the last release....

Thank you, man.

So basically there's no way to customize existing map with BF2Editor? I want to alternate factions and slightly change layers for an event.

Is it even legal to customize maps? Since some of the files are "public" I can imagine that there're some files which are not.

You need to ask permission from the orignal mapper or if they are no longer around, the PR Management to do it first but just changing the map's assets for a one time PR event is in most cases fine, unless you plan on going outside of PR's gameplay.

Thank you once again, I will try it later. And I was looking through that tutorial, but decided that "audit" is not what I need and was searching "customize", and couldn't find anything at all. :D

i had a same problem as yours.

but i just figured it out...
in this case what happens is that your init.con goes blank....so just copy an existing init from a map....and there you go!
