Question about Rally points

Post by Aljen »

I was wondering if it is possible to have an unlimited source of ammo in 0.5.
If
- SL can set rally points where and when (even immediately after destroying an existing one) he wants to (outside enemy CP)
- there is no restriction on how many times he can do that or some forced delay
before creating one
- they contain some limited amount of ammo for infantry

Am I right or is there some mechanism to prevent that?

they will only contain a limmited amount of ammo and there is a timer for how long you can set another one down after your last.

and yes, he can place it outside of a enemy CP if he likes.

wait are rally points now spawn points? does that mean that spawning on squadleaders is being removed?

edit: to remove stupidity

If there is a timer for SL until he can create another rally point then it is ok.

And you will still be able to spawn on SL $kelet0r.

I am alittel confused. I thought (might be right) SL could onyl place 1 rally point AND to place another he had to destroy the last 1.

This is cool becuase, in a retreat or change of objective, the rally point would have to be purposely destroyed. WOuld add a certain extra little element to tactics and moving.
SL's who could control their squad really well, would be able to use Rally points for short periods of time, have them destroyed at an instant and move swiftely on, placing a new rally some few hundred metres away - time and co-ordiation crucial!

The timer sounds like a great feature aswell, stop instantly placing one if an enemy destroys it, coudl result in highly humerous but thoroughly anoying situations if there was no timer.

Can only have 1 rally point active at a time per squad / squad leader. Placing a second one destroys the previous one. We discussed some stuff around that .. as in leaving your knapsacks in the bush should have an impact. Can't remember where we landed on that lol.

They are a new innovation in game play that will have some kinks to sort out.

A lot of the "logic" behind much of the stuff in v0.5 can be updated through server updates only, so if we have to we'll release a server update to address issues (same way we did with v0.4 to fix kit limiting).

- Rallypoint spawnpoints are only available to squadmembers?
- Can rallypoints be placed in capture radius of a flag?

- rally points can only be set by squad leaders
- we have to implement a hack-a-round so that only squad members of that squad can use them; still sorting out some kinks with that
- they can't be set within 75m of any CP

75m of CP - alittle harsh on small maps, but just fine on big ones! A suble way of making MAPS bigger and with good design.

BEcuase if you start removing alot of SPwn points around normal flags (not Military base), it will make rally points VITAL but with out enough room around flags and decent cover and general good design, spwning will take place, too often miles aways from flags - long drawn out games, SO this, in theory shoudl push good and faily large (not massive) map design.

Is there some limit on how far away the RP can be placed from the SL, or can the SL just get on the highest roof and place them all over the city?

I believe he can create them only there where he is standing.

And is world physic applying to them?
So if it is possible to create them on roofs, would it be possible that they fall down (like ammo crates)?

SM: Sir! We have found enemy rally point! Sir!
SL: Good work soldiers! Now take it to a desert outside village. I will take a sniper rifle to do some practice.

Rally Points are to be THE answer to the majority of spawn raping issues that have effected everyone ingame with all vanilla and mods of BF2.

If anyone is a member still of other forums for vanilla players and the like, watch the threads where people talk about spawn raping, gaining entry to statics (think the new destroyable statics ability) and other issues that the reality mod is implementing features to resolve and feel free to feed the information to them in pure and simple terms so that the PR community will grow with happy players :)

I wouldn't say "Rally Points are to be THE answer to the majority of spawn raping issues". I think they will cut down a hell of a load of the old spawn raping issues, but I dont think its going to completely eliminate spawn raping because 1, main bases and some others still have fixed spawn points that can still be camped and 2, rally points themselfs can easily get camped if they are found, i know ive sat next one for afew seconds with a clay more sitting by one waiting for the next guy to spawn before i blow it more than once in testing.

hahaha

I'd rather spawn at a back flag! Spawning on APC's or these Rally points just reeks of "spawn then die instantly"
