New display monitor
I want to buy a new monitor(kinda new, since I am on budget). I've got 200$ and I want it to be AH-IPS or IPS. Can someone help me with it? What kind of display monitor do you have?

Well... you can get an IPS monitor for under $200. The downside will be that it will not be gaming oriented. It will likely have high refresh rates and lots of motion blur.
Budget IPS for $140:
Acer R240HY bidx https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0148NNKTC/
Here is a great value on a gaming monitor, $248:
It is TN, but it has 144hz, low response times, and great at reducing motion blur.
Asus VG248QE https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B2HH7G0/

Re: New display monitor
Well I don't really need gaming monitor since the only game I play is PR, I was just thinking of buying something which will give me ability to work(web-oriented programming) and to play PR sometimes. Since rouble get destroyed(thanks, Obama) I'm kinda in a pickle because of what was 400$ half a year ago became 200$ today and that's what I've to work with now(and what is more funny I was dumb enough to wait for SkyLake to come out to upgrade my PC, well shit). So basically I'm not trying to find something good, but something which is not going to be THAT bad.

200+ Hz vertical refresh rate
omg get rekkt!!!111
Or is that too smooth for you? Too smooth for your puny peasant eyes to comprehend! Ohh it's a DiamondTron tube whhat is thatt?!?
And it's literally free at your local electronics recycling plant
but you have to sneak in stealthily and carry it off like it's your wife on your honeymoon
or a damsel in distress awaiting your rescue in Castle Junkyard
BTW this may look like a joke post but I'm entirely serious:
Trinitron/DiamondTron tube CRT monitors are the best for gaming and can be had for literally pennies now
But they do take up a lot of space on your desk
Ones from 2000 and later are good, earlier ones are fine too but have curved glass (which is fine)

Fair enough. Well the first link I sent is a pretty cheap IPS monitor. Not sure how the conversion (or price) works for you.

Re: New display monitor
Thanks for the advice. But I can't find it at local stores. Since I've got dollars there's no need to converse anything. It's just about what can I get for 200$.Steeps wrote:Fair enough. Well the first link I sent is a pretty cheap IPS monitor. Not sure how the conversion (or price) works for you.
I was looking at those:
AOC Professional i2470Swq(/01)
AOC Professional i2360Phu
AOC ProLite i2360Sh/01
- AH-IPS and IPS but word "professional" makes me scpetic about them. Prolite is e-IPS, some say that they are better. But I haven't found anything explaining real difference between IPS and e-IPS.
PHILIPS 234E5QHAW (00/01)
Philips 234E5QDAB (00/01)
- I don't trust Philips.
DELL SE2416H
DELL P2314H
DELL S2316H
- We've got some 21" Dell at work and they're not that good. Cheap plastic, poor assembly quality, some LED light faults.
IIYAMA ProLite X2380HS-B1
- Haven't heard about Iiyama. But "professional" reviews are positive, no user reviews at all. And it's hard to find a shop with them in stock, the only way to get them is to order.
VIEWSONIC VX2363SMHL-W
- I've owned three Viewsonic monitors. And all of them served 3+ years, and were okay. But user reviews for this one are negative. Mostly because of poor assembly quality.
Samsung S24E391HL
- Lots of negative user reviews.

Re: New display monitor
What were you looking for again?
If you want a monitor with good colors, like a Mac would, that can show 60 frames per second max (60 Hz), these are fine S-IPS monitors that can be had for $40-$60:
- Dell 2005FPW
- Dell 2007WFP (be sure to verify that it has the LG.Philips S-IPS panel and not the Samsung panel)
- Apple Cinema Display (be sure it comes with its special proprietary power adapter)
I don't know the price on these S-IPS:
- HP ZR22w, HP ZR24w, HP ZR30w
You can go on and on and obsessively read about the latest and greatest, but in all honesty monitor technology apexed at its highest point right at the discontinuation of CRTs, sharing space with the S-IPS LCD displays.
I don't keep track of any of this new ****, except that I've seen some new flat TVs from Sony capable of 240 Hz that makes Avatar on BluRay look amazing. Maybe the Lego movie also? LOL. But that's all I know.

Well, I don't trust Philips because I've got negative experience with its products, what's the reason of your mistrust of vegetarians? They've made you to eat vegetables? :^)Rice N. Beans wrote:Is your distrust of Philips similar to my distrust of vegetarians?
Yeah I know, that there's probably no way to find something good enough to please my OCD. Thanks, I will take a look at what you've suggested.

Ill put a couple more here, see if you have any of these. All close to or under $200 with good reviews.
We actually bought a couple of the Dell S2240M at my work and they're great. The S2340M is the bigger version.

I always thought IIYAMA were very good but that is just my impression not personal experience.
Very good results.
