Shortage of Medics
Lately every round i play, there tends to be less people willing to be medic. Like when your SL says i need two medics, everyone goes silent and then in battle there will be no medic around and when there is, they're usually lazy anyway and hardly revive team mates. Worst case is playing as Insurgents, I'm lucky to have even two medics in the entire team. So it's usually up to me to be a medic which basically means a round of risking my *** for my team (not just squad) and dying/ suppressing.
Question: Does anybody actually like playing the medic class? How do you properly play the medic class? (and do well)

Re: Shortage of Medics
I see it completely different... especially these times, I see medics everywhere, but not doing their job (they are just shooting at allahu akbars)
Medic is about risking your life, to save another.. medic is like guardian angel of squad, and if you want to be a proper medic, then you should ask a medic squad, they will surely have answers for you.

Iraqi Insurgent's medic has no patches for himself... -_- (unless they are located in the "unarmed" variant of the medic kit which I never thought about choosing cuz UNARMED)

possibly a server issue, or more probably you only pay attention when you dont get a medic(lets exclude the INS version because no one on the INS team give a fuck for medic)

Re: Shortage of Medics
There are WAY less medics on INS layers because there is WAY less organization in general, and because insurgents don't have tickets, everybody gives up instantly, making you feel like an idiot wandering around dead corpses. I only take medic kit in INS if I'm inside a coordinate squad, and those are rare.Gazza Sparkle wrote:Lately every round i play, there tends to be less people willing to be medic. But rest assured, 1-2 medics in all AAS squads is something common.
Regarding your question:I do have fun being medic, I feel like I have a great responsibility resting on my shoulders, and you are faced with thrilling situations a lot of times. Part of the fun is playing smart and deciding when it's a good moment to try to revive people. Moving in to revive someone that just got killed without any support just means that you end up wounded next to him. Ah, another tip: in the map there's a button that says "call medic", ask the wounded nearby to press said button, and they appear on your map under a red cross symbol. Really useful to locate wounded.
Finally, let me address your complaints about medic's laziness: there's people out there that just grab a medic kit for the patches and ignore all cries for help, true. You can tell that if the guy is not answering you and leaves. BUT a lot of times, medics don't act instantly because they need to clear the area first (again, a dead medic is of no help). So, if the medic tells you to hold, or he stays close, it means that he is busy trying to survive/clear the threads in order to get the others up. When that happens, the last thing that the medic needs is a bunch of retards spamming comms endlessly. Just wait and report any intel, and never ask for medic if your body is under fire.

This video is old, but still has lots of good advice for medics - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjtv-NzBgaM
This video is almost as old, but I still see people that can't revive on hills - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4HxyaLX_7I
In terms of not having enough medics, the SL is the one that needs to sort it out. Not a lot of people like to play medic any more, so they need to ask for 2 volunteers and if no one steps forward, they should tell 2 people to go medic. I do this when SLing and in return they get the first say on cool kits during the next round. Alternatively, you could rotate who is the medic after a squad wipe.
Lastly, I'm sure most of the people that are on the forums and have been playing a while know how to work with the squad medics, but when I played a lot of medic in the past I'd have a situation where we have 2 friendly casualties, out in the open risky revive.
Casualty 1 - "Medic, medic, meedicc, MyDick, Saniiii, mediiiiiic!"
Casualty 2 - "Hey murkey I've got 1 minute left, fire from North West, might need smoke"
Who do I expect to follow me into cover and watch the corner while I heal? Who is not my problem?
Cheers, Murkey.

Re: Shortage of Medics
Thanks for the tips people. And i probably should have stated that I'm not one of those people who spams medic through the button and through local, i know how frustrating that can be. When i go down i tell as much info as i can on where the enemies are, to not risk it or use smoke/ suppression if a medic is near. I'm more talking about a situation where you've been wounded, you've been down for a good 3 or 4 minutes and the area is totally clear. But, even letting medics know your location when they're near you they just pass and do whatever they were doing like they had no clue you were there.
Also, i don't think having new players as medics is a good idea either. Clearing out enemies and choosing the right moment to revive when your whole squad is down takes a heap of practice imo.
Btw cheers for the video Murkey. I had never guessed as a medic you could heal yourself with the bag by looking down, i thought thats what the 5 patches were for.

Re: Shortage of Medics
The best moment I ever had in PR was on a round of insurgency where two of my guys were down accross a field, a squad of blues covered us under heavy fire to rescue them and then extract all the friendlies as we decided the area was too heavily defended to remain. We just forgot about caches for half an hour and focused on keeping eachother alive and getting everyone out of the combat zone, was some of the best teamplay and exciting gameplay ever.
The point of that story is that the medic's job isn't the medic's alone; it requires the entire nearby friendly force to truely keep the team healthy; covering the medic, suppressing the enemy, providing ammo for epipens, throwing extra smokes; and when the team understands that the entire game is far more fun for everyone.

I think this has been removed few patches back? If so, only the patches for medic or being healed by another medic.
Unless i've literally been playing this and using my patches to heal myself.

VTRaptor: but i only stopped for less than 10 secs and that fucking awesome dude put 2 of them
]CIA[ SwampFox: well my definition of glitching is using an enemy kit to kill the enemy
Just_Dave: i have a list about PR players, and they r categorized by their skill

AlonTavor: Is that a German trying to make me concentrate?

Re: Shortage of Medics
Ok, so the videos I linked to are old. The general points about how to play medic and the way to smoke and revive are still all good. Things like being able to heal yourself with the medic bag are no longer true. This isn't squad.
Rudd is on point. The lack of medics, or medics not being able to keep the squad and team up is best alleviated by working with them and for everyone to wait their 2 minutes.
Cheers, Murkey.
