Some questions on coding for bf2

Post by ender[fdn] »

So i wrote this whole TK court martialling system and I'd like to test it. However, i'm running into some snags:

1) I run a server on my machine, but it doesn't seem to want to let me use the AAS game mode? (Win32)

2) When I try to connect to my server, it says i have a newer version than the server? I have both my client and servers updated to 1.41 (afaict). I downloaded the server files for win32 and the 1.41 'server updater'. Is there something I'm missing?

3) Do I really have to f***ing log in all the time? I tried '+developer 1' in the hopes that I could bypass that, but no joy...

1) You should be able to select gamemode in the server launcher. If not, you can edit the maplist.con manually.

2) No idea, sorry... what version numbers are they (actual version, not 1.41 or whatever)? The server version is in the window title, and the client version is in the bottom left of the screen.

3) You can use +playername and +password to auto login. As long as you don't mind your password being stored in plain text in the shortcut. You can also use +joinserver with an ip to connect automatically.

Thanks, I'll double-check the version numbers.

Yeah, in the server launcher it only gives me gpm_coop and gpm_cq options... odd.

That's lame that I have to log in just to test stuff, given that logging in takes 30 seconds or so. :(

Thanks for the info, I'll look at this stuff tonight.

also use an offline account for testing purposes. You can connect to a dedicated server on a LAN with an offline account, or do a create local. Either way it saves the 3 minute wait for the EA servers
