A question about co-op and bots.

Post by cattruck »

Hey! I'm kinda new to PR and I was wondering if you can get in a helicopter with bots? Like I want to be the helicopter gunner and let the bot fly but I couldn't find anything to do that yet. I've been researching about this thing on the forums but I can't find anything. Thanks. :-o

Playing coop is good to get you familiarized with the basics of the game. It's fun up to a certain point.

The pros of fighting the AI is they're dumb and they don't really coordinate actions. They just go to a certain objective and shoot anyone they happen to spot. They don't take cover and don't run away if shot at from an unkown position making them easier to kill.

Con is that they're not affected by supression and can see you through foliage making maps with lots of trees or bushes a nightmare to play as the bots will "see" you and shoot you but you can't see them.

My friend, the real fun is in the proper multiplayer servers ;D Nothing compares to joining a squad, taking up a specific role and coordinate with other people what actions to take. I know it's difficult sometimes and not always you will end up with people who know what they're doing, but when you do... it's all worth it. :D

I'm finding the coop with bots useful so far, but didn't realise you could use vehicles with them.

Although, me and vehicles in online shooters is pretty much an unmitigated disaster. I'll be avoiding those kits just for everyone's safety! But good to know you can practice with bots.

It's possible to make the whole coop gameplay better at all doesn't matter if its conquest or the insmode for coop i working on. You can make it that bots camping an area. You can make that bots making ambushes.
Its possible to simulate a better Opfor gameplay with bots at all.

Excample for an ambush spot. Create a fixed fake PCO. The pco has the same abilities like a humvee passenger seat where are you able to shoot your primary weapon. Give the PCO the option DONTALLOWEXIT.
Put an objectspawner in a location where no navmesh is like a balcony or roof or mosquetower.
Place a spawnpoint with the attributes : onlyforAI, DontallowExit, aienteronspawn, allowSpawnclosetoVehicle close to it. The dontallowexit prevent that exiting of the fakepco crashs the server.

One step further:
Would you give that ambush spawners the ability to spawn randomly on the map like the ammocaches doing and tell the gamepython that only fakepco's spawning that are close to an spawned ammocache that would give coop a new feeling of gameplay.

Same for randomly spawning rallypoints or hideouts. Same for fixed MG bipods. I already placed working IED dummies on the map. This IED'S with a random pythocode and your start to fear rushing in coop with your oneseaters.

I've been playing on this server for years now, we play as humans vs bots and with a few players on it can be a challenge.
As our server uses a setting of no crates needed for FOBs and deployables wire can easily be used to try to stop being back capped.

Its not as exciting as deployment but a lot less stress, assets are nearly always free if someone wants a go, if people crash the CAS or trans we generally laugh, if its just an accident.

I enjoy it as we still get teamwork, lazing for CAS and have a laugh.

Try VG with guys that talk, revive and so on, as there are a lot of mutes on COOP for some reason maybe that's just us in the pacific time zone....
