Question about making faction

Post by ShadowR4nger »

I am planning to make a faction for the PR and I have some question

1. Can this faction be an regiment(even disbanded)?
I am planning to make RHKR(Royal Hong Kong Regiment) and it was disbanded in 1995. Can I still make it?

2. Can I make sensible 'upgrades' and changes for the faction?
As the regiment was disbanded in 1995, can I make an alternative version of the RHKR for 2016 ? Also the RHKR had been using British equipment, it will be rather silly remaking the British equipment(Example, L85) when PR already provide excellent stuff. Can I make changes for it?(E.g. Weapons)

Sorry for extremely bad English

You will need maps for your faction, keep this in mind.

Falklands will have 1980's british army instead of modern. PR has many historical factions.

I have a few ideas in my mind already, thank you for reminding.

I understand that PR is making Falklands which the RHKR had quite a lot of stuff from the 1980s. Remaking things seems kind of pointless?

The major problem is that RHKR used the same equipment as the British army throughout the 20th century even when fighting against the Japanese in WW2 and this is why I am asking can I give them different equipment and split off with the British forces but it will be realistic and sensible.

Sorry for my horrible English

Please read through the other topics about custom factions in the modding section. It is quite the amount of work, and a large scope of knowledge.

Yes I am fully aware that this will take huge amount of time and commitment into it. Also I am not working alone. I am assuming that I am allow to create this alternative version of RHKR?

You are creating a fictional faction yes? Based on a regiment? I'm pretty sure the devs don't mind what faction you create for yourself in PR.

However, I wouldn't count on it actually being included in PR.

don't be discouraged,
it just has to be something realistic that is still possible now, if you know what I mean.
not in terms of realism as if: DID IT REALLY HAPPEN?
but more in believability: CAN IT HAPPEN?

well , you got to have a wide amount of resources and information about that certain faction enable to develop some.. and starting some models from scratch takes long.
