Is the standalone illegal in Germany?

Post by toscanOs »

So torrenting is heavily enforced in Germany, they are spamming out 1000 euro fines for movies. So I'm wondering, since I'm using torrenting software, is it illegal in germany? I think its not, because torrenting itself is legal, just torrenting copyrighted material is illegal, I dont think this is copyrighted but I may be wrong... So yeah, if any Germans here have downloaded Project reality and already played it and all that, have you had any problems with fines or anything?

This is a mere non-profit modification of an abandonware, I double dare them to try lol.

It'll be ok.

Yeah no joke. Any copyrighted material, you will get a fine up to 1000 euro (sometimes higher) And the governement doesnt send the fine, the creators of the movie do. I had a friend from Singapore (apparently everyone pirates there) torrented like 8 movies and he got a 10,000 euro fine. His lawyer managed to bring it down to 1000 but thats still a lot.

*Looks at his own hard drive*

Well...... I'm not bringing that one with me if I ever go back to Germany ^_^;

All the stuff there should be enough to cripple me for a lifetime of fines. @_@
