BTR 80
As of 1.4.4 the over heat limiter on the BTR 80 is very odd. From a full magazine if you fire non stop it will overheat with about 3-4 rounds left. Meaning you have to wait for the cool down then you are forced to wait again because of the reload.
This can be really annoying because the overheat limiter gets deceptively close just before you run of ammo. It happened to me a couple of times in an APC vs APC battle where I thought I could fire off the whole thing without over heat.
Can the overheat be increased so that a full magazine can be fired?
I'm not sure if the BTR 60 or BRDM also have this problem.

Re: BTR 80
BRDM, BTR 60 and BTR 80 all use the same guns afaik. Overheating adds a competitive element to engagements. If they increased the overheat time to allow a full mag to be fired, why would they even have overheating in the first place.

It is a pretty unnecessary feature :^)FFG wrote:why would they even have overheating in the first place.

I don't want to sound like that guy but....quit spraying.
The only time I would risk an overheat is when a target is fleeing and I'm about to lose line of sight, beyond that you need to rethink how you use your weapon system.

Switching ammo with btr 60/80 takes quite long. Only good with 25/30mm gunstankninja1 wrote:You can always switch ammo types to get around the overheat.

Unrealistic 5.56, 7.62 and .50cal overheat just hinders gameplay, those guns should have it completely removed or made something like the M240 on landies, nearly impossible to overheat.
The autocannon ones are maybe okay to have, but they are wayyy too quick to overheat.

I really liked your suggestion in another thread to just make the cannon damage against light armor more realistic, so one or two cannon bursts can kill an IFV/APC.
On top of being more realistic it would get rid of a ton of balancing issues aswell and be better for gameplay too.

Even having made this suggestion I forgot about it for a while... but yeah, this is the root cause of the overheat being so annoying. At least most times you can kill infantry with your secondary but no such possibility against APCs.DogACTUAL wrote:True.

APC battles shouldn't be a race where whoever knows how to avoid overheat best wins. It should be about who gets first shots on, just like it is most times in real life. With the exception of fights with heavily tipped scales.
Armor overhaul went toward this direction, APCs need to be next. A few rear shots should be a done deal, no matter the caliber once its .50cal or larger. Considering most APCs in the world are very lightly armored, the rear doesn't offer much protection at all.

You've overheated 5.56 and 7.62?viirusiiseli wrote:Unrealistic 5.56, 7.62 and .50cal overheat just hinders gameplay, those guns should have it completely removed or made something like the M240 on landies, nearly impossible to overheat.
I mean it happens with .50cal but you can still fire off a pretty long burst before having issues.

Re: BTR 80
I think PR engine cannot handle issues that heating of the gun could cause, like less accuracy and malfunctions, so therefore the over-heating is the way to do it.
idk.
E: Have they changed the over-heat values of the 14.5 mm gun? Because I made a video few years ago comparing 12.7 and 14.5 guns. You were able to fire full mag with BTR-60 without overheating.
That video was before 14.5 mm gun had AP/HE rounds.

Remember the Marlin INF Layer that has 4 VAB VTTs against UAZ jeeps? (with only 2 of the UAZs that are armed?)
Also the FA has a Panther Helo while the MEC have a SOKO that cant drop crates
Good times...
Oh wait its still in the game!
