Free Candy Van
Good Morning,
Well, I fully understand the general backlash from the community about this server now. After 1.4.8 update, Fallujah is the map, 13v13 at the time of the issue, an area attack is sent from opfor. Based on my understanding of the rules, and I could be wrong, nothing heavy until 20v20. I was in the squad with YAK and I stated in team chat that we shouldn't use area attack. Well, YAK verbally responded "I'm an admin and I can do whatever the hell I want"
An interesting way of modeling good behavior, following and enforcing rules.

Clearly my sense of humour alludes you swamp. Area attacking(crappy insurgent mortars) a super fob on fallujah at the asylum while the server is seeding isn't a cardinal sin. I'm pretty sure the area attack failed to kill more than 1 person. (also to note no one from either side complained or thought it was unfair)RAWSwampFox wrote:Good Morning,

Maybe ask for clarification instead of instantly leaving the squad and posting this thread immediately.
Never thought i'd actually be accused of modelling bad behaviour

Good Afternoon,
Wicca and I spoke later about the comment. It struck me totally on the wrong side and yes I did leave the squad because I felt that I would be struck down immediately. While it may have been humorous to you, the tone and delivery did not make me feel that way.
It appears that FCV is a bit on the lenient side of things. It always has been and always will be. Great strides have been taken to clean it up thus me showing up on the server more often as of late.
Servers either are sticklers about rules or way lax. I have yet to see or experience a balanced server in regards to admin.

Just to clarify there is only real leniency in the rules while seeding, theory is as long as people are having fun and no one is disrupting gameplay or annoying people it's fair go. (Ie testing out the rocket techie, learning how to fire spg etc, stuff they probably wouldn't be able to do during a live 50v50 game)RAWSwampFox wrote:Good Afternoon,

No feedback is good feedback i guess? Or has the expectation dropped so low there's no hope?
There's been significant changes to the admin team in the last few months, so any feedback (constructive or otherwise) is welcome

I played on your server from time to time. A bit rubberbandy, but administration did improve a lot. You cleaned up pretty well (atleast from what I can say)

Like Casual said definitely server has rubberband issues. Danesh even offered help I think to improve the quality of server but not sure if wicca wants the help or there is other reason behind it.

I can't just move the server without massive downtime.
Not to mention I can't imagine how danesh can help me?

You can migrate everything in one night. And if you want to keep using Virtual Machines, change to VMware vSphere. Its free and is the best "software" to build virtual machines.
Edit: I worked to one game-server company for 3 years...

Maybe because he has ran servers in past and present and has enough knowledge on the issue.
I don't know talk to him.
compare to to other servers FCV does lack performance.

There are better alternatives than VMware. It may have a nice GUI and you can be certified for it ... but apart from that it isn't much better than xen, libvirt-kvm, etcDanesh_italiano wrote:lel

We are e.g. using libvirt+kvm which provides maybe the most performance you can get.

I will review the issue and try to come up with a solution to the lack of performance.

Well, according to 3 friends (and one is a engineer to one big american it company), vmware is more reliable than KVM. Especially to corporate solutions. And all my friends said the KVM has high response time running vms with webhostClund wrote:There are better alternatives than VMware. Some years ago i tried vmware, xen, kvm and openvz to host some old game servers. And vmware was who i was able to host more slots.
And a plus for vmware is: He is a "SO" (and based on UNIX), so, you install directly on the machine, and avoid incompatibilits trying to install kvm on linux so.
But opinion are opinion, and usually you dont change your opion when you like that product.
Can you disable the firewall or anti-ddos protection for one day on your datacenter provider? May be it is a network problem.Wicca wrote:I will review the issue and try to come up with a solution to the lack of performance.
I tried 3 different "network way" (congento, zayo and gtt) to check if one carrier used by this datacenter is fucked, but same problem with all.

Re: Free Candy Van
Corporates choose vmware because there is a company behind that that provides support and certain guarantees. kvm might be tricky and buggy, I can confirm that. But overall the system is way more flexible.Danesh_italiano wrote:Well, according to 3 friends (and one is a engineer to one big american it company), vmware is more reliable than KVM. (Also saying "we" means based in this case)

Re: Free Candy Van
Good Afternoon,
Am I missing something? The only rules on the website are the "abbreviated" ones and for the complete set of rules, I have go download, install, run (eating up memory in the background), and login to a server to see the complete set of rules?
It mentioned the word spammy in the rules I was reading and was wondering what the FCV definition of this was? I looked it up and am trying to link a definition to it: Urban Dictionary: spammy I'm assuming that only mortars are to be restrained from constant fire and not any other type of gun?
Lastly, there was much discussion in regards to how far away you could build things. The map was Al Basrah. Currently, you can build 50m away from your repair pad. I don't know if this is specific to INS maps, certain size maps, or faction based. The admin and others online, were stating that the FOB and assets had to be 400m away from the repair pad. On Al Basrah, that might as well be out in the open in the desert with the exception of the refinery and island which extremely limits options. When researching the rules, I could not find anything that mentioned the stated rule and I was then informed that I needed discord to see everything. Again, why?

Hello Swamp.
I am sorry to hear that you were unable to easily read our rules, I will fix this.
Further if an admin tells you something, or even multiple admins you shouldnt need a rulebook to check if its there.
Why do you think there is a rule on fob placement?
