M14 semi

Post by fecht_niko »

M14 was full auto -> BESTDEV2017 made it 1-shot so people finally use it -> M14 OP -> balance by semi -> not 1 shot anymore -> worse than before

So you basically made it worse than pre bulletshitpatch...

Maybe make it full auto again or give it more other stuff?

Since this engine doesnt have something betweed 1 and 2 shot its more about balance issues. Right now it doesnt make any sense to take the M14

I have seen other sources that said quite a lot of officers and higher ranking individuals had access to the fully automatic version.
Maybe officer kit and/or spotter can get full auto back?

Page 45 of M14 Rifle History and Development (online edition), Lee Emerson:

In the U. S. military, the selector shaft lock was installed on most M14 rifles so that only
semi-automatic fire could be employed. However, the Table of Organization for the U. S.
Marine Corps required three automatic riflemen per rifle squad when the M14 was the
issue rifle. In Viet Nam, U. S. Marine Corps units such as the 1st Marine Division 1st
Reconnaissance Battalion and the Combined Action Platoons (CAP) were equipped with
selector switches on their M14 rifles in Viet Nam. Automatic fire was used in ambush
situations and by the patrol point man when making enemy contact.
...each fire team had 1 full auto M14 equipped with a Bi-Pod and all the others were semi auto.
However, this wasn’t nearly as much to be concerned with as the rifle’s near-uncontrollability in full auto fire; arguably the M14’s only significant new feature vs. the old M1. (Magazine capacity notwithstanding).

The Army’s best attempts at curing the problem included addition of a heavy barrel, sturdy folding bipod, sophisticated muzzle brake, and yes, even a nicely sculpted new wooden stock with pistol grips fore and aft. Alas, the resulting M14E2 (later designated M14A1) squad automatic rifle version remained clearly inferior to the BAR, a genuine embarrassment.

Both the standard M14 and the tricked-up A1 models were in general issue throughout the Army and Marine Corps when the first American ground combat units of both services were sent to Vietnam in 1965.
Time to add M14 SAW then is it?

Hey I have an idea, you can use full auto M14 as placeholder since nobody is going to model the M14E2!

Our country's civilian armed forces uses both M14 and M14E2 rifles , i've seen then fire it way back when our province(Bohol) was penetrated by Insurgents(Abu Sayyaf) during the Asean summit, luckily the Insurgents did not succeed to whatever their plan is. M14 was semi-auto and the M14E2 is rapid or automatic.. damn, it is music to my ears

Have recommended M14 be made 1-shot-b&w for a while now.

Not sure why it's so difficult to change a damage number.

M14E2 as alternative to M60 for AR would be cool too.

Maybe as alternative for AR and MG, but also for pointman as the primary weapon choice with ALT being shotgun.

But as I said earlier, nobody will bother modeling the bipod version probably.
