1 server per timezone
Right now there seems to be one server per timezone active everyday.
Europe has 1.
NA has 1. (South America has 1)
Russia has 1.
China has 1.
This is not what it used to be, what can we as a community to promote PR!?

Let it die gracefully without these constant "omgz why no one playing how do we get more people to play" threads.
PR is in sunset mode right now, has been for a while.
Either accept the downward trend of PR and play on whatever servers are available with whoever is there. Or move onto another game that has a bigger player base with low latency local servers.

Re: 1 server per timezone
To first promote PR, we must identify the key areas of difficulty:
1. Awareness - How can people find out Project Reality exists? I played Arma 3, Red Orchestra, Rising Storm, Insurgency, most of the Battlefield series, and it wasn't until a post on /r/Games about PR no longer requiring a BF2 disc to install that I'd even heard of it. PR is rarely discussed and so people who are looking for the kind of gameplay that PR provides might not even know it exists. Not only that, the game is hard to stream.
2. Entry Barrier - PR has a lot going on, its quite a complex game with a lot of moving parts required to make a battle successful. To a new user that makes it extremely tough to play. Not only that, but the most-rewarding moments in the game take awhile to reach. Think about how you spend your first hour playing Project Reality: Reading the PR Manual, trying to figure out how to play the game, getting kicked from a squad for being a noob, or crashing a helicopter when you realize that it isn't just like Arma or Rising Storm 2. Compare that to a game like PUBG where its an instant adrenaline rush, easy to play, and quick to get into.
3. Age - Project Reality is built on an old game and old engine and has technical difficulties on newer systems as a result. There are numerous quirks and pitfalls to avoid when playing (i.e. squad bug.)
4. Niche - Teamwork-oriented gameplay on a large scale is a niche genre, and there are several big competitors in the area. Hardest of hardcore players go to Arma, middling players might gravitate towards RO/RS/Insurgency/Squad. Thus, your core audience is small and split amongst several titles.
With these difficulties in mind, the community can develop avenues to approach them:
1. Get the word out. "PR in 60 Seconds" was the best advertisement of the game ever developed, it encompassed what PR is about, and espoused its ethos and spirit. Talk about the game, essentially. Otherwise people won't even know of it or what its about.
2. Host newbie squad nights. Be a leader, be an example of the kind of player you want to see in PR. Help new players navigate PR and get them into the exciting moments that reinforce why this game is good.
3. Going in hand with point 2, perhaps we could make a known issues list for new players to be aware of.
4. PR is free to play, this is the biggest thing. Great game for budget-conscious players.

Get the word out, and get your friends playing. People needs some help when starting out. Invite new people into your squads if you see them.

Hear hear. Tho I say not "let it die", but "let it become" (a legacy game that it is with it's small, but consistent player base).RollingInTheHurt wrote:Let it die gracefully without these constant "omgz why no one playing how do we get more people to play" threads.

Everything has its time and age. Even the most popular games will eventually die out, and in that respect it's important to keep in mind that those iterations of PR which aren't "BF2, except harder"(meaning post 0.8 afaik) were never in the popular realm to begin with due to the demanding type of gameplay when most people just want to shoot stuff and switch their brains off.Wicca wrote:Right now there seems to be one server per timezone active everyday.

I most definately welcome the efforts of every person who feels committed to lower the rate at which players leave, but being fully honest with you, we'll probably have to accept that in the near future there will just one server be full every day. PR will die. Which is a shame - but not a shameful thing.
VTRaptor: but i only stopped for less than 10 secs and that fucking awesome dude put 2 of them
]CIA[ SwampFox: well my definition of glitching is using an enemy kit to kill the enemy
Just_Dave: i have a list about PR players, and they r categorized by their skill
Para: You sir are an arse and not what the game or our community needs.
AlonTavor: Is that a German trying to make me concentrate?
Heavy Death: join PRTA instead - Teamwork is a must there.

Is there a community discord where we can coordinate some sort of media/marketing plan?

Everytime i see this defeatism i get angry. The only reason why PR has so few players right now is low exposure.

Defeatism is what I would call this as well. PR player numbers have been pretty constant. Yesterday night there were over 300 people playing. PR isnt dead and it is unlikely to die within years from now.
Marketing is indeed a good thing and even though it is not my skill area I am happy to help anyone who wants to do some kind of promoting video.
Steam is a no go, not possible.

As we know, PR has been dying every year, but here we are more than a decade later. This defeatism is nothing new.
Mention PR on popular media and bring in new people. And help them when they come here. Be a friendly community.

I think the best way to attract serious PR players is to advertise it to communities made up of military members. I've noticed plenty of such Arma 3 clans although I have no contacts. If you have a friend in such a community then try and get them to post something about PR on their forums.

Maybe some DEVs and communities should've thinked twice about some decisions which drove off all the old players (who quitted some time ago) and replaced them with new players. (which have been quitting lately aswell)
PR is dead.

If only PR had been recognized as the first game to allow players to play as "Terrorists" and "blow up American soldiers" simulating current/recent brutal conflicts, that's the type of advertising you can't buy with any sum of money.
Short of finding a way to get a video to go viral I'm not sure we can do anything that hasn't already been done (years ago).

I think refreshing the 60 seconds of PR concept could work.
