No Spawn - As realistic as it gets :)

Post by keyser Soeze.KIA. »

It will defenitly change the game. Dont think it will work on the bigger maps like 64. But on smaller 16-24 or something i think a round based game would rock!

Except for the dead people. And people DO die in this game. Lots.

And when one team is wiped out, the round ends. What comes next? loading, and plenty of it, and if everyone dosn't load at the exact same time, whoever gets in first will win the game by taking the others out as they spawn. Then the round ends, what comes next? woah! more loading!

Repeat til adequetly pissed off, and you have a great crowd displeaser.

I like Bf2 allot because you can respawn. unlike CSS you CAN get acros to the other spawn before players are in.

I for one am useualy the first person in and i allways get the plane and bomb there spawn and allways get plenty.

Imadgine if that was there only life??? and i wouldent not to do it because its unfair.

No, that is hardly the right attitude.

But back to the real discussion:

Making spawns slower would probably fix some of the issues, but then again, on maps with planes, some people always gets the plane and bomb the other teams spawn and always get plenty *cough* And how many would enjoy being slaughtered several times over and being punished for dying, just because someone likes to get cheap shots?

More head on maps, with few to none vehicles would definitivly be a nice thing, but you have to consider how many people define the BF2 series by it's vehicle combat. And that any lack thereof would make a huge impact on the internet populations willingnes to play this mod.

No spawns will work with some small, probably urban maps, but thats it.

Then you would have to have a LOT of rounds on that map, and even then, if you're one of the unlucky ones, you would get to play maybe 6 minutes in 10 rounds.

If we're going to have round-based game play, we'd have to implement objectives into the game. We're not sure if that's a possibility, but given the lack of popularity in the Secret Weapons of WWII objective based mode, it doesn't look like something worth focusing on.

From a player's stand point, I would hate to have to wait 10 minutes until I got to play again, because someone on my team accidentally bumped into and thusly killed me when I was repairing his tank. That would make me want to go play something else.

I really wish objectives would work in the BF setting, but they don't seem to, sadly. Blow up X and Y, win the map. It's a tried and true element of the most popular MP games though...

I think making no spawns is a bit of a stretch. I would encourage the team to make long spawns, and simply raise the stakes a little, so people will work together to make sure they don't die.

Obviously, when the mod is first released, people will play as they always have, but when they realise that the spawn is increased, they'll get annoyed, and dying will become frustrating and it will turn into something to be feared. People will start working together and game experience will get better.

Yea I dont like the idea. At the start of any map, theres a 50% chance(at least) someone is gonna get ran over on accident when everyone is barrelling out of bases. I'd hate to spawn in with one life and get tked, then have to wait 15 minutes for everyone to die.

Agreed, and especially when you can't follow your mates in spec but you have to stare at the sky instead.

TK and spec can be fixed thoe?

I dont think it will wrk thoe, longer spawn times is prly the best way.

In Day of Defeat, it was hit once, have top bandage to stop bleeding, life meter dropped to half. Second wound dead or cannot sprint.

The round based system never cought on.

unfortunately they took out the bleeding feature on steam, and also the point at which you cant sprint anymore, although your stamina still goes down.

anyway, i still think there are other ways to go than making really long spawn times, the longest i think they should go is about 30 seconds, anything else is too much. making it so you can only spawn at the main base or on your SL when hes not in battle will make it reason enough to stay alive.

i like that idea solo, it accurately (or at least closely) simulates the way replacement troops would be brought in: all at once. i think combining that with the parachute idea would be pretty cool, if the drop is high enough the troops will come down through the clouds, instead of just appearing in the air.
