In which years is PR happening?

Post by GAJAN »

I really wish to help PR with suggestions but I need this information (exepct Vietnam, Checenia and Usa vs Taliban). I dont know for others but it will be more intersting if we make PR more in future, 'cause weapons from the game now are too old, like t90s commander view etc. What I mean? Today we can see how is Russia producing new vehicles like t14 and t15 armata, T-90M, bumerang etc. And other countries too. And I was thinking how will game look like while we have something new. I just wanna say it will make game more intersting if we modernise it. :-)

No one is stopping you from creating modern assets.

When the Russian army gets an independant thermal viewer for the T-90 i'll make sure you're the first to know.

They have T-90M which is how i saw from some videos (https://youtu.be/jJMXeQ4CW8s) commander and gunner have thermals and commander can take gunner view to control it.
:D

View this, this is a T-90A from RHS arma 3

T-90M isn't in full service yet, but regardless the model we have in game doesn't have an independent thermal viewer for the commander. Having access to the gunners thermal sight is not the same thing.

That is why am I asking for years in the game, so if we say it is in future automatically (for an example) T-90M is in service. But if is game based on the present OK, then all is about to prepare models etc.

There are many shades of frustration here with your life(Dogactual). My advice to you GAJAN, just play the game, do not ask anything about development.Because some people abuse it.

Most of PR is set in the near future so I think that if you make a model of a real vehicle with real plans to be introduced to an army in the near future, it won't be rejected.

The T-64 also pioneered other Soviet tank technology: the T-64A model of 1967 introduced the 125 mm smoothbore gun, and the T-64B of 1976 would be able to fire a guided antitank missile through its gun barrel.

OP asked a legit question, can one thread in PR not be turned into a **** measuring contest or drama?

I think he was mainly asking us to update our models and give the T-90 thermals.

I have an idea about the thermals.
Make them realistic.
Its possible, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEFcuooqd68

Yea, put it in suggestions forum not here. It will be good to realize it but in army thermals arent infrared usually they are usually HD green-white, black-white, orange-white. That thermal is good cause just motor and barrel of vehicle is hot, what makes it more realistic

Not convinced that they have been done properly in that video although yes, it is somewhat possible to do them properly, although not 100% properly like ARMA where vehicle engines actually heat up with use and cool down when not in use etc (as far as I'm aware anyways, might be with some big banairy hacks but that is out of my area of experties), but yes we could edit the shaders to use something like the shadow map texture and have the hot/cold spots painted on them and have these textures only affect the vehicles thermal view but to do this would be a lot of work going though all our vehicles and making each of them unique "heat" textures and also editing the shaders and banaries to allow for it, and would also add to the amount of textures you need to load, even if we did the heat textures in pretty low rez compared to their main textures.

But ye, the first issue is really getting the binaries and shaders sorted for this which is a pretty unique skill set, and probably won't happen unless someone seriously commits to making heat textures for all the vehicles etc, which btw there is about 300+ of them in PR.

Also worth noting that if you where to use the shadow map texture, which is really the only one I think you could use, then you would also lose the ability to use it, although it is used pretty rarely (other than on wreck textures to give them that burnt look) and hard to judge if it is worth losing them for that. Although there might be some way to keep them with how you code the binaries but you then couldn't have both a shadow and heat map on the same object.
