Editor Crash

I'm trying to get back into modding but when I try to open the "pr_edit" mod on the Editor it just crashes on me without loading anything, plus no error message pops up.

I tried reinstalling the editor but it didn't help, here's the log it gave me:

you need to unpack all 'objects_' .zip files to "\mods\pr_edit\objects from "\mods\pr_edit\content\"

I already did. Plus it was working a few months ago, and I didn't change anything on it since then.

I was thinking it could be something with the mod folder, so I tried creating a mod through the editor to see if it would load, but it also crashed with no error message.

Reinstall or "reinstall" by downloading the PR editor again and setting up pr_edit from scratch.

Though before that, did you try to run the 'pr' mod just to see if it loads?

I have same problem. I was reinstaling pr editor few times, but it still dont want to work. I'm opening it choosing pr_edit it load few sec and closing, but without any messages or errors.

SShadowFox do you have win 10? I was working for a while on win 7 with pr editor, but on new computer with win 10 it doesnt want to work.

I do have Windows 10, but it was working a few months ago with it. Maybe it was some update that broke it.

Does the game work for you?Probably like the rest of us you copy game files.And editor you start is from copy folder.

if you start editor from copy folder,try to copy all directories from source folder "pr"(folder game ) to copy folder"pr".To test i del my pr_edit folder and try to create new one and i have same error like you.Then i copy file by file from "pr"(source game) to "pr_edit"(my copy), now the "pr_edit" works fine.
But before that make backup of your files(maps,guns...) you make in Editor.

Having the same issue, repeated the installation proccess at least 5 times to make sure I didn't miss anything. the editor crashes without leaving an error.

I have set the compatibility mode to Windows XP, I'm on windows 10 aswell.

Also swapped to windows 10 and having the same issue.

Changed the permissions of the drive to my account and that didnt fix it either.

I formatted my computer and made a fresh Windows 10 install, now the editor is running with no issues so far, so it must have been some Windows 10 update from the past few months that broke the editor for Windows 10 users.

Have anyone found which update cause that problem (update name or number "KB...")?

@Nvm i've just found that is the 1803 update

This is a workaround for the Windows 10 Creators Update that might fix this issue.

Find bf2editor.exe, right-click and select 'Properties'.
Go to the 'Compatibility' tab and select the checkbox next to 'Disable fullscreen optimizations'.

Click on OK.

This hasn't been tested since mine works fine, but hopefully it works for anyone else.

Despite this thread is 2 years old i've just got same problem. I made fresh installation of win 10 like two weeks ago and wanted to install pr editor again. After installing editor on first startup up it automatically closing after few seconds without any errors and there is no logs after that in bf2editor/logs. Changing compatibility mode to win xp, giving administrator priviliges and disabling fullscreen optimization didnt worked.

I took it from original forum post about setting up bf2editor. I've tried many fixes like: doing another full format of pc, trying old graphic drivers, some other smaller ones, but none of them helped. Last thing I've done was to set up virtual machine with windows 7 and then surprisingly same thing is happening like in main system and this is very strange for me.

@my clan mate has same latest version of win 10 and bf2editor is working fine for him.

You have to install original bf2editor installer after extracting files from forum post. Don't forget to inject BF2 registry, so bf2editor installer can detect where you installing the game.

I don't understand that part with injecting bf2 registry, do you mean that the path of the folder with pr files has to be correct in registry?Image

no that one. I mean, you have to installing BF2 registry, since BF2editor can't detect where your game installed (Battlefield 2) cuz you didn't install it.
