Removed maps
What are your favorite maps that were removed from the game?
And if you could bring back them, what would you change about it?

Artic lion
One would have to fix everything that was broken, but the map had an awesome atmosphere.

Re: Removed maps
I liked the old Gaza version but I wouldn't want to see it back, it was a nightmare for the IDF side with their main base really exposed and easily shot into.

Re: Removed maps
Yeah, IMO old Gaza looked better, but because of that chokepoint was kinda unbalanced. The map was more alive, the new one feels so empty.

Re: Removed maps
l dont recall much of Old Gaza but l sure remembre how terrible it was for the IDF, if HAMAS did a good job there was no way you could leave main.VTRaptor wrote:Yeah, IMO old Gaza looked better, but because of that chokepoint was kinda unbalanced. The map was more alive, the new one feels so empty.
l dunno l really like Gaza now, TBH l know its stupid but its probably my fav map ATM in PR. Yeah its a Mayhem and you cant have much organisation but l really enjoy it for the CQB in both sides

Re: Removed maps
As Rhino would put it, Battle for Qinling was removed because the map is actually test terrain to see if 4km maps were possible.
It's spiritual successor was Shijia Valley IIRC, even though Qinling was actually kinda fun.

Re: Removed maps
While yes, it was the original 4km terrain test map, that wasn't the reason why it was removed, it was removed simply because it no longer fitted the PR gameplay very well and had lots of issues, the runway/taxiway system being one of the bigger ones and it would simply be easier to make a brand new map with a better gameplay format than to try and fix Qinling.Acecombatzer0 wrote:As Rhino would put it, Battle for Qinling was removed because the map is actually test terrain to see if 4km maps were possible.
Not really, the two maps are very different and do not offer anything like the same basic gameplay, one has jets and full combined arms, the other is more infantry focused with a bit of armour and helis on the side and in a much more urban environment so you really can't call it a "spiritual successor" to Qinling.Acecombatzer0 wrote:It's spiritual successor was Shijia Valley IIRC, even though Qinling was actually kinda fun.

Re: Removed maps
Honestly Dien Duong. The only vietnam map that could be tolerated. Also it had that dope ZSU-57.
I guess the old verision of Burning Sands too. The new version is good and I know why Rudd changed the map but the first iteration had some cool scenery and I have some fond memories of it. That fps tho...

I don't really agree with that either but I think one of the DEVs said it. Forgot who it was but I think Qinling was added the same time Shijia was removed; or at least within a couple of months.Rhino wrote:

Re: Removed maps
Wasn't that just a Vietnam version of Fools Road? And I have to agree, would love it if there were some more land based Vietnam maps instead of helicopters and boats everywhere. (Hill 488 still has boats and one asset on each side, and is a bit too small, and the night map is dark and only has .50 cal vehicles)sweedensniiperr wrote:Honestly Dien Duong. Re: Removed maps
There was also an attempt to get rid of Kashan, which was just as hated by exactly the same people for exactly the same reasons. Just not nearly enough people spoke out against getting rid of Qinling, which is unfortunate.Acecombatzer0 wrote:I don't really agree with that either but I think one of the DEVs said it. Re: Removed maps
Its nostalgic. Honestly the factions plus terrain made it a logistical nightmare. On top of that while the points of interest may have made it seemed interesting they were islands on an island (which was my main problem in all my maps). By that I mean they were semi interesting points surrounded by uninteresting land. It was a fun map, honestly might have been a massive hit if it was released around .5 or a bit later but it just wasn't that good.Brotherscompany wrote:Always wanted to trie it out, a really shame that it was removed, just from the footage it seemed liked a real blast

Re: Removed maps
Hill 488 alt (night wasn't it?) with NVA amphibious tank and US zippo tank. The one GB versus Militia map with 3 flags was kind of fun, though the the map was bugged as hell.Outlawz7 wrote:What night map?
