Next new toy for the British

British Troop Carrying "Griffon" Hovercraft in Iraq operations.

On the 20th March 2003, D-Day for the UK forces (British Royal Marines) entering Iraq on Operation Telic, four Griffon 2000TD(M) military hovercraft set out on an unusual and dangerous mission. During this campaign these craft were used to clear mines and obstacles across a 200 meter wide lane stretching from 3.5 nautical miles from seaward onto a beach, this beach drying out to a 2 nautical miles at low tide.

Royal Marines use hovercraft to patrol in the Shatt al Basra, south of Basra, 2 April 2003. POOL

They were in BFV.. but that's not saying much... I honestly don't know, I haven't seen any other mods do it.

You know i just realised it wouldn't go "PSss" it's a hovercraft not a inflatable boat. The RIB would do that though.

lol, i think mil hovercrafts have a special scirt thats pretty bulliet proof.

and yes, hover crafts are possible in BF2 cos EA was making a LCAC for BF2, but never included it cos of the problems they had with putting vehicles on vechiles :p

but we could do a troop transport hover craft no probs.

that reminds me in my old mod i use to work for (Terranova) we had this really cool hover scuter for the alines, was so damn funny! :D

Yeah it should work. Just give it APC properties like being amphibious. Then again, i know 0.00000000000000001 about Redelopment of anything of the sort!

my question is, why did you put it into the community modding section, you thinking of modeling this yourself?

I'm pretty sure POE2 did a hovercraft, but I can't tell for sure because I didn't play it for more than about 2 minutes (yes, seriously!) because of the lag, no real gameplay changes, n00bs and the fact that it made me feel all dirty inside ;)

POE1 had a LCAC in there mod, but that was a BFV mod and it was real nice. it was the only reason i didnt take BFV back to the shops and demand for my money back to be honest...

in POE2 there is no hovercrafts to my knowlage, i played 90% of there maps quite abit and never saw it...

nor have i seen any images of it, and im sure we would have if there was one :p

Agreed, POE kept me playing BFV up until the BF2 demo came out.

Would be so awesome to use.

Also I THINK there is a mod which has a hovercraft which can carry vehicles in BF2. IDF - Fight For Independence, however it's not released yet and I don't think they will ever finish but they took a screenshot off it carrying a tank I believe.

There's no technical reason why we couldn't make a hovercraft. :)

If you shoot a hole in the skirt it would do nothing. Remember there is no underside of the skirt, so that is a pretty big hole already. A few bullet holes really wouldn't hurt it. Only if you would really tear up the skirt you could make it softly lower to the ground.

This would be a lot of fun to have in a mod imo. Mind you these things are extremely hard to steer.

No, I was suggesting some ideas that pop on me last night, I'm not so talented as to make this beauty. Sorry if this was the wrong section.
