Re: Kit change for British pilot
Interesting, I didn't know British helicopter pilots used the L22.
It isn't that uncommon for helicopter pilots to use SMGs or small carbines (like the L22) as self-defence weapons, the problem is Jet pilots simply can not carry anything larger than a sidearm while being strapped into their ejection seat. There is also the issue of not wanting to encourage people jumping out of their jets to parachute behind enemy lines just with the aim of trying to shoot people in the back which people might want to try and do if they've got a better, more capable weapon like an MP5 or L22 etc.
We have talked before about maybe separating the "all in one Pilot kit" into Helicopter and Jet pilot kits, with, as you've suggested, the Helicopter pilot kit having a better self-defence weapon, but no parachute and the jet pilot kit staying pretty much the same, but we've felt that overcomplicates the kit selection (especially if it would be between left and right-clicking the "pilot kit" icon for the right kit) and doesn't really offer anything that worthwhile in terms of gameplay etc.

I love the idea of altetnate pilot kit with right and left click. Maybe just rename the kit selection menu name to “Helicopter/Jet Pilot kit” (left click/right click - Std/Alt)
Supporting this game since 0.6 Never gonna give up!

You know how competitive it gets to play multiplayer, if you just ditched a fully functioning heli/jet, you'll be removed from the squad and is still ticket loss. It's not like they will land with parachute and be terminators. Give them iron sights, and one man can't takeout a whole squad that aren't bunched up. Pilots don't have fighting chance anyway with just a pistol. I speak only for the heli kits, I agree with the jet pilots only having pistols.
