Start-up isssues with PR

I know this has been mentioned before and ive posted on there but I really want to know how to fix this so i can play the game.

Basicaly when i click shortcut icon for VBF2 or PR the loading box saying "Battlefield 2" appears closes the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop>! does anyone know if doing a clean install of BF2-1.41-PR .5 will fix the problem?

Or is there another way to fix it.? ive tryed windows defrag and it didnt do anything.

I am having the same problem.

I am using BF2 v.1.0.2442.0 (just reinstalled, no patches applied).

Any specs if it helps:
Windows XP Home with SP2, 2GB Ram, 2600+ processor
GeForce 6600
Plantronics GameCom Pro1 USB

Ok fixed it. Just needed to apply the latest patch (1.4).

To play online, be sure to install 1.41 and not just 1.4.
