I'm having an issue where my game suddenly goes silent, with no audio whatsoever, after a while, maybe some 30 minutes, maybe 1 hour of gameplay, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. I can still hear Mumble, local and squad chat, it's only the game sounds that are muted.
I checked all my sound settings, volume mixer, my headphones (they work fine, I tried with another and the issue happens just the same), in-game settings, and there is nothing out of place. I have all other playback devices disabled apart from the output that goes to my headphones, so it isn't about windows suddenly changing devices for some reason. I've checked to see in case PR was set to some other device but it isn't. I've changed the communications tab on sound settings to do nothing when windows detect a communication activity, that did nothing. On volume mixer, PR is on full volume, but the bar doesn't show any output (i assume that is what it would show normally as the game is muted on alt-tab).
The only way I can get the sound back is restarting the game, but that sucks when I'm in the middle of a match. Can anyone help me?
Game sounds stop after a while, Mumble still works

I haven't tested in a long time but IIRC if you change Windows audio settings mid-game, PR/BF2 goes silent and sounds won't come back until the game is restarted. My guess is that some other program does something with your audio devices in the background.orti wrote:I'm having an issue where my game suddenly goes silent, with no audio whatsoever, after a while, maybe some 30 minutes, maybe 1 hour of gameplay, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. Mumble is separate application (PRMumble.exe) that uses your selected/default output device in shared mode so it's not tied to game sounds coming from PR (PRBF2.exe).

yeah, but I don't remember changing any audio settings mid-game. i'm on the game screen, walking around, and suddenly there's no soundclueless_noob wrote:if you change Windows audio settings mid-game, PR/BF2 goes silent
