requesting kit system at APC

Post by luizinhuu »

me and my squadmates spawned at an APC and tried to request kits on its backdoor. no success. so i asked for a supply drop. no success too!!! what happened? i'm sure me and the guys did all it correctly (asking behind the apc), i even tried asking on the side of the APC, above it, in front of it. nothing! same to the supply drop. so we got stucked in that position...

some screens (notice the denial of the requests up on the screen and the position of my squadmates)

this one shows me trying on both places with no success:

It has to be at its spawn point IIRC.

I have had exactly the same problem (on GH WEST server).
I was in a 6-man squad and was not able to request any kits: not behind an APC, and not at my squad's rally point.

seems like a bug... yeah you should be able to request kits of the supply drop wherever it is. (afaik)

Anthony Lloyd, himself a former soldier in the British army and a Northern Ireland and Gulf War veteran:
"The men inside (the APC) might have been UN but they were playing by a completely different set of rules. They were Swedes; in terms of individual intelligence, integrity and single-mindedness I was to find them among the most impressive soldiers I had ever encountered. In Vares their moment had come."

100m shouldnt matter with APC's and supply crates, plenty of room for kit!

Well there was a purpose behind that. The purpose being that if you get out of your vehicle as crewman to repair it, someone can't just request crewman and hop in. If you abandon an APC or MBT, you have to get a crewman kit and make your way out to it to salvage it. Personally I like it.

Not sure what was going on with the supply crates and requesting, though. A bug, I assume?

This is correct. You are not supposed to get vehicle kits from anything but the home base (<25m) or at a vehicle at the home base wherever its parked or <100m from home base.

You SHOULD be able to get all other kits from the supply crate / APC. Like if you were trying to get a sniper for example.

This is a feature. Its to prevent players from stealing your vehicle.

What happened in that screenshot, is some noob just abandoned his vehicle.

The way to get another kit is to request a crewman kit at the mainbase and get to the said abandoned vehicle. In this case, you will need to spawn at carrier, request the kit there, and then either drive a boat or get a pilot to fly you to the site of the abandoned vehicle.

Lesson here folks: DO NOT abandon your vehicle for no reason!!!! Doing so will fuck your team over. Under no circumstances should you get out of your vehicle in a hostile area. This is Reality guys, stay with your vehicle and take good care of it. If you get hit, fall back and repair in a safe secluded area away from snipers.

This DOES require better documentation.

Is there a range in which the APC has to be in, in order to spawn kits from it? Aside from the crewman kit.

No, APC are mobile kit request points for all kits except the crewman kit. This can only be requested on a vehicle that is in 100m of the home base.

Ah, well that explains it! But still, I have more than once had my vehicle "stolen" by non-crewmen and had to abandon them because I get bored of asking them to get the hell out (Especially APCs when there isn't a seperate driver and I'm in the turret providing long-range support for the 5 infantry in the squad, though you could argue that an APC should be used with 2 squad-crew at all times).

Also, when repairing it, the crew positions get filled with non-crewmen even faster, it seems. Even if they do get out eventually, I'm extremely lucky to have any SABOT ammo left (thank the gods they don't understand how to access the HE ammo  ). Any chance of instantly killing anyone who can use 200 rounds of APC ammo within 15 seconds without hitting anything :-x ?

(Ok, I realise that you are planning to fix the spawning in APC crew positions at some point, in some way, so just take this as a rant and one explanation why there can be empty APCs about).

I hate it when people abandon vehicles like that. I've seen even respectable veterans of PR doing that. Once you've chosen crewman for a vehicle, you don't go further than 1m from it unless it's on fire! Alright! So what if that means sitting there as a spawn point, if you didn't want to do that, you shouldn't have gone in the APC. Besides just defend it with the cannon and you're bound to get some free kills here and there.

Unless you've got a competent crew, then you can do much more. Otherwise, just keep it away from the front and use it for spawn and don't abandon it.

Tbh though, this has only happened on Jabal.

If you were playing on GH then it probably had some 508 code on there and I screwed something up with rally points and kit request, but its fixed now :)
