Crashes when updating
Hello, I encountered a problem when logging into Project Reality. The thing is, when I finished installing the launcher through Setup, the following problem arose - installing an update for an online game. Everything seemed to be fine, and at first the update went fine, but as soon as it reaches 7-14% of the installation, the launcher crashes, and when you try to go back, it reaches 7% again and crashes. Help please.

- Make sure you have enough free disk space on the drive where you installed PR.
- Run PR Launcher as administrator.
- Disable your anti-virus during install. It's the most common reason for updater crashing.

Both of these are waste of time. They don't have any effect on the update process. UpdateLogs are just that, log files that are never read by the updater once they're written. All progress is based on PR install folder content only (the files that are being patched).LunaHarris wrote: 2025-11-02 15:16
I had the same issue with the launcher freezing around 10% a few weeks ago. What worked for me was:
Deleting the ProjectReality\UpdateLogs folder (it forces the launcher to rebuild update data).
Running the PRLauncher.exe with compatibility mode set to Windows 8 and admin rights.
Updater is also a .NET Framework application (targeting .NET Framework 4.7.2, if I'm not mistaken). Running it in compatibility mode changes nothing.
Disabling third-party anti-virus is the only thing here that can have positive effect on the update process.LunaHarris wrote: 2025-11-02 15:16 Temporarily turning off both Windows Defender and any third-party antivirus.
