Putting Rally Points inside buildings, is it 'glitching'?
I've been getting some time in as a Squad Leader recently (On a side-note, could Fuzzhead maybe run SL Training squads sometimes? I've heard great things but can never get into his squads. I'd like to get some inspiration and advice).
Anyway, whenever possible I've been dropping RP's into buildings and other objects to protect them, then telling the squad where to stand if they need kit. I got the idea from another SL I played with a week ago or so.
Tonight one of my squad members told me he considered that 'glitching'. He didn't ask me not to do it, just made his thoughts on the matter clear, which I appreciate... But I do wonder about it now. Is it considered bad form to do that? Am I being an ******* by making RP's hard or impossible to find and destroy?
I do have some favourite places now and the RP does sometimes get camped by the enemy, forcing me to go back to main for my officer kit so I can move it somewhere else. But it's true, in many locations they become impossible to destroy because they're completed surrounded by solid walls.
Is it fair game, or should I play nice and try to hide my Rally Points only in the accessible game area in future?

I class that as glitching, you are protecting it from being destroyed, in effect you are cheating by having a rally point that cannot be destroyed which in turn ensures a steady stream of soldiers from a given direction with no chance of stopping it, which is cheating beyond all doubt.
As an officer on occassion i hide my squads rally point in areas such as wooded areas, behind rocks which overhang onto the rally point and in other areas where it is unlikely to be noticed.
Hiding a rally point in a wall is unrealistic and glitching, so dont do it.

War isn't supposed to be fair. The opfor would have to launch a well coordinated attack on the building in order to stop your reinforcements. Seems fine to me.
Edit: ^^^ Disregard the above statement.
If he's putting it in a wall, then yes, I'd call that cheating.

Hiding the RP inside a wall is glitching in the same way if you hid in that wall, you can shoot out, they can't shoot in.
In real war, we don't have teleporters. Justifing this by saying "war isn't fair" is a rather big logical jump.

1st Iraqi Insurgent - "...Was that wall there before lads?"'Hobday[22ndMEU wrote:']yeh in real life u could build a wall aroung some bage if u wanted to
2nd Iraqi Insurgent - "Aye, well, i dont know really, it could have been i suppose, looks a bit new though, dont you think?"
3rd Iraqi Insurgent - "....Lets blow it up anyway"
(These iraqi insurgents have a higher understanding of the English language along with regional accents
In a combat situation, do you honestly think that the US army, or any army for that matter, are going to build a wall around some bags?
Flik, ive done it before and it puzzled me, saw a corner of one of the bags sticking out, so i destroyed the rally point and waited to set a new one.

yeah thats definitely exploiting / glitching. if its impossible to destroy, its not fair to the insurgents. they are forced to camp the glitched rp and try and figure out whats going on instead of actually playing the game. im glad you posted about this though, many people just set them and assume "well if i CAN do it, then its ok", which is completely ridiculous.

Since I worked out the technique I've been doing it deliberately, as often as I possibly can (depending on the arcitecture around me)... But I'll stop now, since the general consensus seems to be that it's not cool.BlackwaterEddie wrote:I wouldnt worry about it mate, as long as you didnt mean to do it people wont have a go at you, although, try to set a new one ASAP.
I just hadn't really thought about it from that angle until the squadmember I mentioned raised the issue earlier tonight.

Of course it's glitching. It's using a glitch to your unfair advantage. How is that not glitching? "War's not fair". Oh, I see, so hacks are perfectly acceptable too then?
When I see people doing this I tell them to stop spawning there and set a new one ASAP. If I see one more guy spawn there I contact admin.

thats what we are talking about. the rp is in the wall.A-10WarthogPilot wrote:its not glitching peroid, now if you could get into a wall thats glitching lol
i think there is some confusion about what we are actually talking about: we arent talking about the spawn being inside a building as in "in the living room next to the couch". we are talking about it being in the building as in "inside the wall with the sheet rock". see what im sayiiin?
