You Lost Connection To The Server - HELP!
Hey guys,
Ever since I installed Patch 1.4 for BF2 I've been regularly disconnected from servers I join; like once every hour and it's beginning to really tick me off.
It never occured prior to the patch and it doesn't occur to my other games; not even 2142. I'm on TeamSpeak when it happens and that remains connection.
My connection is a 2.2MB DSL, non-wireless.
What is causing this problem and how the hell can I fix it? I'm sick of doing really well in a game and then losing connection even though I was connected fine.
It's even more frustrating as a pilot; it happens at the WORST possible times (Yes, when I'm ferrying a Blackhawk full of people across the ocean... :S )

Same thing happens to me. I ran 3d Traceroute to see which hops were holding me up. There's like 2 of them in the 250+ ping zone...so I think that's what it is. It's been on ongoing issue for years with BF2 and I've yet to find a solid, working solution. I think it's just poor programming with the communication side. No other game has this.

I never had this issue with any other game. Regular BF2 works fine for me. However .4 it only happened to me on US servers after a few hours. But once it happens, everytime I connect it does it again. Now that .5 has come out, I get it every hour or so regardless of the server I'm in. I love this mod, but it is getting harder and harder just to play the damn thing.

For mic issues, when you start up PR, click the muto switch on and off, somtimes BF2 will mute the mic.
as for the connection - I get it a lot on Thors and IGI, so I dont play on them. I think its more the server than anything else. Not sure why, but like I said, I am very prone to it onThors and IGI, but I just played 2 matches on DEVFile without a single hitch (UK player - so its nothing to do with lag)

Had the prob in .4, it has gotten worse with .5. How is "get a new PR" gonna fix it? lol It frustrates the fuck out of me. I think the worst one, I was flying a fully loaded transport chopper and got dropped. My entire squad died. Of all the time.

He wants to get blown away
Maybe the 600w fan is causing stuff to come loose on the motherboardHeskey wrote: I have a AMD 3700 2.2GHz, 2GB Ram and a brand new GeForce 7600GT, with a 600W fan.

Heskey - PC restarting
Sounds to me like a hardware/OS config issue. Make sure all the BIOS settings are good, make sure that you are using the best drivers for your graphics card (that does not necessarily mean the latest).
Make sure that RAM speeds are set correctly, the DIMMs match, and that they are compaitable with your MB/CPU combo. The AMD processors are known to require high-quality DIMM's (especially the AM2 socket).
I had 1GB of brandX DIMMs and would get restarts and then moved to Kingston and had no problems. Those brandX DIMMs worked great with Intel boards though.
The best way to check for RAM issues to to run memtest86.
Also, try playing around with DirectSound settings. A lot of integrated sound-cards are terrible for high-performance games and will crash when so-called "hardware acceleration" is used. Since the cards do not perform real acceleration (they are not much more than ADC/DACs), the "acceleration" is performed in software via a kernel-level driver. As such it appears to DirectSound as "Hardware acceleration" but is not and usually is poorly written .
Remember: ANY driver with low-level access to the kernel can reboot/crash/kill your PC. That includes virtual CD-ROMs etc.
I could probably list more things to check, but hopefully that will provide a start. Good luck.

AMD Fx-62
Asus Crossfire Mobo
EVGA 7950 GTX OC
Xi-Fi fatality
PC Power and Cooling 750watt Silencer
WD Raptor 74gig
2 gigs of Corsair Dominator DDR2
My BF2 was a clean install of the latest version.
.5 PR clean install after a complete uninstall of .4
ALL drivers are up to date.
Internet connection performs fine with every other game to include vBF2.
It should not be an issue on my side. Would running the graphic settings so high or so low disconnect me?
