Shoot, Move, and communicate

Post by LightFighter »

Last night was my first time playing PR and I had a blast, but one thing I did notice is there is alot of freestyling going on , A couple of the squad leaders were real informative, Giving sitreps and keeping there troops informed to what needs to happen next, but others are running around doing there own thing. As the insurgents team this can't happen because you are already out gunned, and under equipped. Other wise a great game once I learn the maps I will be puting the tactics down to the ground

See you online people!!!

People are still learning how to be squad leaders.

Insurgents may have inaccurate RPGs, but they have a lot of advantages over the other factions. Al basrah has 5 SVDs on it :O

Not to mention the grappling hooks and moltovs to cook an entire APC crew.

What else do you need? Heh. :P
If you enter a fair fight, you didn't plan it properly.

LIES!!! Molotovs > *

(No seriously... I've killed lots of people with molotovs. The damage clips through walls/cover remember :) )

I prefer playing the insurgents anyways, since they have much more mobility than the marines.

Also, what's wrong with insurgents not playing as teams? That's the way it's supposed to be.

I wish Al Basrah servers would kick/ban people for being smacktards with the spawn cars.

Also, insurgents can OWN the USMC on Al Basrah if they get some decent communication going. If you have an IED/jihad squad, you can completely deny the USMC any land vehicles. Just have IEDs on all the bridges and jihad cars ready as soon as an APC or something that slipped through gets spotted.

After that you need a dedicated grail squad, armor w/ mechanized infantry, and good old fashioned infantry squads. And you've pretty much won.

BTW, the molotov may not be great against armored targets on it's own, but if you've disabled a tank, two molotovs can finish it off.

how much armour does the T62 have? also how many repeated shots does it take to kill an apc or even a abrams.

Every time I'm in a squad, we end up being discovered from behind, and all of us are mowed down at once.

When I'm alone, it never happens.

insurgeants need to be organized but not together, they need to attack from all sides, they should never be bunched up. Maybe be in pairs, but dont be in threes and fours.

Exactly! You nail an APC from the front or side with an RPG, or possiblly a failed IED attack and then toss a moltov cocktail, and burn all the Marines as they come pouring out the back. The one thing I have learned about playing Insurgent the few times I have, is suprise is the key. If the USMC know you are coming you are screwed.

Once on Al Basrah I joined a game where the USMC were moving in on the palace (last control point) and they had an APC that had crossed the bridge and was giving cover fire. I ended up swimming across the small stream and snuck up to the bridge. I killed a Marine with the M14 so I stole it and ended up getting like 5 or 6 kills because all the Marines were huddled up behind the APC for protection. But of course the APC gunner got wise and smoked the **** out of me. But still what a great feeling to snipe 5 or 6 guys with their own rifle

I'm also having a blast with this mod and really enjoy playing as the Insurgents on Al Basrah. On one game I was playing last night we had total control of the map and the USMC just resorted to wave after wave of A10 strikes against the petrol station but it failed to dislodge the squads that had dispersed nicely and hiding with RPGs ready for the followup vehicles.

Nothing like poping up out of the water and nailing some US vehicles that have crossed over already :D

I agree though, people are still learning how to be effective squad leaders and a great squad leader with a little VOIP can really make the game a lot more enjoyable.

You'll find no matter what faction your playing there will be a lack in teamwork. In a pub with all these different people of different age groups and backrounds, its hard to put it together. Especially when it is someone different every time. Get hooked up with a group of guys, and play with those same people every time you get on. While your team may be in disarray, at least you know your squad is squared away.

And you begin to fall in the trap of boredness, always with same people, talking the same things over voip. As much as I LOVE the regulars who join my squads, its still best to be able to play with multitude of players.

Functional squads can be formed around a core of experienced squad leader with a one or two seasoned troopers with him. The rest will catch on sooner or later.
