I know there are a lot of fellow TGers on this forum who would agree with me that squad leaders need more tools and options. My mic is perpetually on the fritz so I have to type out most of my commands so if a distinctive sound or color to the command could be added after entering the command to call attention to it would be great. Seeing as commands like ammo and medic requests, and spotted always clutter it up it makes it difficult to tell when a squad leader has issued one himself. If anybody here played an earlier version of PoE when they still had the *beep beep* sound after every spot, that would be perfect. It was removed because some people thought it was annoying due to it occuring so often but if something like this were used for squad members or leaders, it could help promote teamwork even in non-VOIP squads.
I'm obviously not a coder so I have absolutly no idea if this is posible or not but could fire teams be assigned within a squad within the same squad for more specific orders could be issued? A squad leader could assign the specific soldiers to fireteams although orders could probably kept to squad level rather than fireteam specific.
Another problem that I deal with often is when a squad leader drops connection by accident and rejoins his squad but everybody goes through that whole game of 2 people who don't want to lead constantly join and leave then join again. Usually this ends in the original SL starting a new squad and a lot of confusion. So if an unwilling squad leader wants to assign the position to another person, he could send a message with the person recieving it having the ability to either accept or decline the position.
Thanks if you have actually read this whole thing. I have a few more suggestions (creating different kinds of squads using the custom squad key like armor, air, sniper, assult, recon/spec ops with specific icons to acompany them giving the commander the ability to determine what tasks to assign the squads) but I'll hold off pending any responses.

Hey Betterdead. I think I was in your squad once when we had a SL debacle.
I think that the squads in BF2 are too generic and don't vary enough between others on either team. Sure you can name it 'Attack' or something but to have certain 'limited' squads that have various abilities (such as an scout squad have a more resources to call arty, defense squads have more access to supplies, attack quicker access to jeep drops etc) would liven it up a bit. You can still create your own but these would be pre-created and you could join at the start based on what you consider your talents are.
Sure this could be hard to implement, but you guys are very smart at finding workarounds and fixes that basically exploit bf2 to do what you intend. I hate it when people suggest things and the forum reg's quickly nullify his point with 'bf2 engine can't do it'. If PR went by that statement every time someone pitched an idea it wouldn't be the fun game we play day after day.
