riflemen, optics, and .6
After seeing the models for the g3 with optic sights I am very impressed. However, one thing bothers me. In .6 it is planned for both grenedier and riflemen to have optic sights. Very few people choose riflemen right now and it would be good to encourage more people to choose this class by giving the optic sights only to them in the upcoming release. The other reason this should be done is that once grenadier has a scoped rifle, many more people will choose this class and almost everyone will have a grenade launcher
grenadier is powerful enough as is and does not really need a boost. In .5 the riflemen for the brits and the pla have optic sights only for the riflemen and there are alot of riflemen on these teams
I think riflemen promote teamwork with their ammo bags and its good to have more troops without some special item like a rocket launcher and such.

When I play british, the optic sight almost cripples me. I don't want to play any other class, because I know if I get in a tight spot, the optic sight will help a lot more than grenades, or a few C4s.
But still, this is a good idea. No scope for Grenadiers!
I also know that before 0.5, almost everyone on the US team chose spec ops because of the superior scope (I didn't notice a difference in recoil, maybe because I never used full auto, or even three-round burst.)

You can just have a piece of the scope used as an ironsight with a leaf that takes into consideration the raised position of the rear sight.

Well, when the devs get around to it the L85 for one will definetly have a SUSAT on its grenadier version, as the SA80 ironisights are incompatible with the UGL heat shield.Cyber-Couch wrote:I didn't know the grenadier was planned on getting a scope in .6, that is a big thumbs down from me - don't do it.
Also, the G3TGS (G3 with HK79 on) is often seen with a scope (which actually makes it a G3TGSZ) and most American troops in direct combat roles seem to have ACOGs or some other optical or red-dot/holo sight on thier rifles. The type-95 I've no idea about. I dont even know if there is actually a UGL attachment for it. Though it can fire rifle grenades.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!

its more of a blanceing thing than anything elese aswell, I personly much prefer hand nades over a GL so the rifle man apeals more to me (but to be honest, the officer kit apeals even more which also has optics
the grenadier with optics will not be too much of a threat as when they are using the nade lancher it self they can still only use the leaf (which will be just that vbf2 crosshair on the screen thou...

excatly, each kit has there own advantages and dis advantages. the grenadier really only has his rifle, and his nade lancher, and that is basicly it. rifleman has his rifle, his hand nades, his ammo bags, his smoke, and that is all needed for a good squad. you only need really 1 good genadier in a squad, and most of the time he will be just using his rifle, and nading anything that needs to be naded here and there.Leo wrote:I like it, I don't know why all of you are complaining, in a good squad, no one will complain about picking the rifleman over the grenadier, so I'm all for it.
and yes, it is the plan to give the other teams genadiers with scopes aswell... sort of what this topic was about

Since all factions will be getting a GL + Optics kit. I say reduce the number of magazines in the grenadier kit. Something which would make the kit more balanced. Right now they have the same number of magazines as a rifleman. Infact only rifleman should have 8+1 magazines. The rest should have less. That's what i think anyway, i also don't like the over use of the GL. Especially since on all maps nearly every rooftop is accessable.

I don't like scope for the grenadier because it'll make me want to use the grenadier even more, and rifleman less.
I want the grenadier to just have the good old fashioned ironsights, i'm not ready for a scope yet. I am not looking forward to the next release
It's gonna suck if more than just the rifleman have optics.

it is impossible to have a L85A2 UGL without optics. The EA model for the SA80 UGL is totaly incorrect (the model which we are using for the SA80 UGL with iron sights at the mo).Cyber-Couch wrote:I don't like scope for the grenadier because it'll make me want to use the grenadier even more, and rifleman less.

there are lots of reasons why players should choose the rifleman over the grenadier and I'm sure we will only see a very slight increase in the amount of all time grenadiers on a team. At first ppl will want to see the new model etc but as time will pass, it will blance out.
Its like saying every player is going to want to go light AT cos they have a lancher, if anything the light AT is more of a noob tube the the grenadier is.
