Mortars for insurgents..

Post by Alarius »

Currently i enjoy playing as insurgents.. the play style is totally different compared to the other factions. Insurgents rely on ambushes, hit and run.. tactics used to disorient the enemy. In most maps they are outgunned especially with the presence of air units.
If the US wanted to deter enemy movement they can use air support to barrage an area. Was wondering what everyone thought about a giving mortars to the insurgents?

The devs have, in the last few days, commented that player-controlled mortars are planned for the future and will replace the vanilla BF2 artillery on several maps (try searching for "mortar" on the forum). Still not clear about the details though, but I'm sure they will tell us as soon as they've got themselves sorted (i.e. when they aren't still franticly working on the 0.5 update ;P).
The verbal brutality found on forums is often reminiscent of the physical brutality found in first person shooters, except that forums allow those with slower reflexes to join the carnage without a handicap.

Having a good deal of experience it is to note that many of the mortars used in Iraq are not portable. Usually they dig a hole out in the desert a few feet deep. The insurgents run up with their tube and firing pin. They put the pin in the hole, place tube over and fire a few quick rounds nothing over 3 to 4 rounds, and then get up and move taking their tube and pin.
