Military Background - Poll

Post by <S8>Inchon »

Many topics in this forum discuss the lack of a basic military language or tactics when playing in squads. On the other side of the coin, when a post is made in which somebody praises someone, I wonder if it's because they have a military background and can easily adapt to this style of gaming. With this in mind I just wanted to take a quick poll of the community and see how many share a similar real life experience as me. Please feel free to respond.

Branch: Marine Corps
Rank: E-5
Year(s): 2001-2006
Combat Experience: Yes, Three tours with RCT-1. Participated in OIF I and OIF II in Fallujah.

I don't think some of the people did this poll correctly, assuming it's for servicemen only... I think some civies have voted

Only 5 people have voted so far, how do you know it was one of us ?

Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

I've made a few kills on the paintball fields. <__<

I actually voted but then realized the error afterward. You should have added a "No" option if you want a representative poll. I was really thinking about joining but the army never bothered to even try recruit in my area so I thought "screw it, if they wont make the effort".

Yeah, I voted no combat experience thinking that I was supposed to be part of this. No worries though, the number of servicemen(servicewomen here? Lawl) it still should be self explanatory.
Thanks luizinhuu for the find

Branch: Air Force
Rank: E-5
Years: 98-02
Combat exp: 1 year in Kuwait. Camp Doha. SatComm. Worked on Predator Feed.

It's good to see all the service members back home and playing PR. Thanks for serving our country and protecting our freedoms.

It's alot more fun shooting at some one behind a keyboard and mouse than behind an actual M-16.

No im not in the military...yet. Im joining the USMC in a year. :) w00t!! Ive been wanting to join since 2003. Those guys are bad ***. Its funny b/c today i was watching the daily show and one of the guest was talking about Iraq and he said something like this "this care is even more important for the SOLDIERS AND MARINES." i think its funny that he separates the two. Marines have this like arora around them. There just bad ***. Ok im done with my pro marine rant.

What means OIF I and OIF II and RCT-1 and E-5? I've been in service in Finnish Defence Forces, but so have majority of other finnish males too, but not any combat experience. Finland never participate in wars because we are peaceful nation otherwise than some others. Only peacekeeping operations. People want to pull soldiers back even if someone is wounded by accidentaly.

But I quess this poll is for US citizens only?

So <S8>Inchon, did you participate on that second fallujah battle? That one when US "liberated" that city?

Glad to see the responses so far. I agree that I should have put an option in for "No Military Experience." (If a mod can do that for me that would be great). Also it's great to see the various countries that play this game. In my opinion, I don't care what flag you are representing... if you stand with me against harm's way... I'll buy you a beer anyway.

And ironcomatose, you'll notice that the Marines are the only branch where everybody is a Marine. From the Commandant to a private... they all have the title of Marine.

OIF= Operation Iraqi Freedom

E-5= Enlisted 5, Sergeant.

Also, Why'd you put liberated in quotes (asking though I already feel I know the answer)?

Army (British)

Combat experience in Iraq '03, along with a few counter terrorism tours in Northern Ireland previous to that with some IS related contacts in that period.

Added 2 more options to the poll. No previous Military Experience and Cadets.

Define irony. A bunch of guys playing PR year after year. A game teaching initiative as the prime mover.
However, in regard to EA, these guys never took the initiative.

No military experience yet. Will, however, do my mandatory service in the Army from January '09. Was in fact called in this January, but it was postponed due to education.
