Engineers should be able to flag mines, claymores, c4, etc. A kit item below wrench -- flag. If you don't have the time to lay in the open to remove mines under fire, throw a flag on em so passing vehicles notice.
A small but visible marker appears for all to see. A flag 2 feet off the ground.
Could have other uses too. Set flags up to gauge enemy proximity to c4 while watching from a safe distance. Find an enemy rally, throw a flag on it if you're out of c4. Maybe flags could show up on the map for commanders to notice.
Anywho, its a small detail, but could have some use. They are combat engineers, don't they do all sorts of nifty stuff?
Flags should be removable with G by the one who dropped it, or with a wrench for other engineers
Let me know what you think.

thats pretty cool. now it kind of like; "there's a mine on the left side of the road" "mine? wherE?" "On the Side of the road!" "Where?!" boom... this could be prevent if someone previously drove the road and flagged it.

Wow, you can remove mines? I seriously didn't know that, :d uh:
I think that all you should have to do would be to spot them like everything else in the game. After a little amount of time they will disappear from the map like everything else that is spotted. This way the engineer cannot simply mark them and then walk away and not ever have to worry about disarming them.

I like the idea of marking an area to your team as "minefield"... however, just remember...
....the vBF2 players will simply run over them, thinking they're "Power ups!" because they just finished playing Mario Kart just 5 minutes prior =)

"Ooh look! Free health! lets drive over that....!" BOOOM!

I think that when the 3-d map is on the mines shouldn't have the wimpy skulls above them. They should be big-*** signs that read "IF YOU DRIVE OVER HERE YOU WILL DIE AND EVERY ENGINEER WILL HATE YOU FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!", although his life wont be very long seeing as how he just drove into some landmines while reading the pretty sign that takes up half the screen.

It's an AWESOME idea. Probably the best suggestion in ages!
And well, maybe then you could remove the 3d map warning for friendly mines? Would make it more realistic if the engineers would flag their mines instead of a magical red skull appearing ontop of the mines everytime a friendly is near. (still wouldn't be that realistic, but IMO still better than the red skull)
And make sure the engies have lots of flags.
