hacking away on v0.6...
Making some progress.. not quite yet ready for a first test build, but I've made a few "personal" builds and am running a v0.601 alpha to test out some stuff.
Pretty much at "proof of concept" on things now and just about everything has proceeded as expected so far.
Gonna try and get all the complex stuff done in the first test build. That will hopefully keep us focussed on polishing and bugfixing in the latter stages of development (instead of constantly adding in major new things late in the game lol .. we are prone to this hehe).
As with just about every release of PR we're looking to mitigate "gheymeyeness" .. and upon release some folks will proclaim that we have, yet again, ruined the mod.
Probably will have an Open Beta towards the end of this release. We want to avoid the performance issues we encountered with v0.5. You will be able to play v0.5 as well as v0.6 with the way we conduct testing. Not completely sure about that.. still have some logistics to sort out.

LOl, any news on what 0.6 will actualy contain. I heard wispers of Warriors and C2's but i am not expecting them (dont mind waiting longer) and possibly new G3 model - will .6 be more about gameplay changes than phyiscial content like 0.5 or more of a 0.4 release OR somewhere im-between?>
Oldy my only real concern is mapS! Why, well maps determine (now more than ever wtih ralllypoints/kit layout) what tactics you can use, some many maps you have no hope in hell of using fire and flank tactics becuase the terrian is either flat or a 6ft wall, Op ghost, Helman, Basara all contain many features that allow such, but i guess it is just a case of long term developement.......

My concerns are the fallowing:
Mobile AA: Will these be brought in line with the tanks and APCs? I mean it should take two people to man the Mobile AA guns.
APCs: Will these be getting a armor boost, and more tork for their engines?
Static AA: Will the static AA guns see some big changes? I mean as they are now nobody ever jumps in them because you can't kill anything with them and even if you did take down a chopper an A10 would be right on your *** in 10 seconds anyway. It would also be more realsitic if static AA did more damage to jeeps, trucks, and cars that are on so many of the maps now. They should also eat infantry alive as in WW2 AA guns were often used as anti-infantry weapons and are still used to this effect today.

Most people dont seem to understnad that the average APC with out add on armour packs is onyl just about protected against either 50cal or 1.4*mm rounds.Gunwing wrote:APCs: Will these be getting a armor boost, and more tork for their engines?

RPGs, well they should just slice through with out a care in the world!
With add on armour that is being used for readily today, they can be protected against mulitple RPG hits but in terms of high calibre weapons, this add on armour often only protects against 30mm maximum and often that is the front side only.

A general question about the warrior then, while we are "on the topic", will it offer significantly more protection than the LAV and other APCs, becuase i do think the in reality, in the warzones, it is equipted with add armour that protects it almost totaly from RPG threads and supposidly (2 Warrior, real crewman told me) from 120mm rounds!!!!!

v0.6 is mostly about small changes that make a big impact, as well as an overhaul to the CMDR systems.
wrt maps, right now we have only a couple ready (or being readied) for v0.6. The other mapping projects in development look like being v0.7 timeline.
BUT... we are going to revisit some of the current maps to fix them up for better game play. There will be a few new toys, but we're mostly focusing on completing the spawn system make over (which includes applying some lessons learned into existing maps) as well as polishing up the changes we have already released.
wrt the US .. current forces are USMC and we'll be adding a US Army in the future, assets are in production already.
